Or they can hire him to help search for his replacement, given he’s familiar with being a GM so he must know what qualities to look for in the next candidate.

No way, he has a losing record, just like Belichick without Brady. :)

At least we got someone with winning records to help find JD's replacement, that's a positive.

He was originally expected to go REALLY high in that draft and then fell somewhat for reasons I don't recall.

It was a bit of an exaggeration but not a ton of they’re tied for 16th in the league in sacks but they have a really good secondary and the guys he likely matched up with on any given snap have 4-6 sacks on the year. It wasn’t some sort of dynamic pass rush but I’m glad if you or others keyed in on him and he had a good game (no sarcasm).

    We need good players.

Our second best OT under contract for 2025 and starter when healthy last year, Carter Warren, was on the other side and was abused against the same defense. We really needed someone a lot better, and glad that Olu is much better. Again, this is not to say missing on Brock wasn't massive, but JD really fucked himself into this position due to previous numerous failures with no one to protect the QB for 5 years, as @NJJets pointed out.

Olu Fashanu was perfect yesterday in Pass rush attempts.

Brock Bowers is a stud but we'd be screaming about LT either way this year. When you hit on a LT, you don't look back. Bowers is good but he would have made no difference here because as we expected, Tyron Smith got hurt. Who would have took his place?

My attention was in and out but lets be real Seattle's defense completely wrecked the Jets yesterday.

Olu Fashanu must not have had THAT good of game, certainly not "perfect."

lets calm down a bit, maybe pick up a 1st down first, lol. The offense had only 1 meaningful drive all day. If not for Seattle's special teams gaffes, that's a 27-7 loss, and we are talking about another putrid offensive performance

No, he was good. By this logic Brock wasn't as good either, since Raiders offense is shit. It certainly wasn't because of Brock though, much like yesterday's offensive struggles were not because of Olu.

Watch the film of that disgusting game? No thanks I can think of a hundred things I’d rather do.

it was one of, if not the most, poorly played games in the NFL this season

If it makes you feel any better, the Raiders are totally going to waste him.

Thanks Vilma. I always enjoy your insights. I remember during the draft you were a big supporter of Bowers and thanks to your input I started to do more research on him and really liked him. My constant anger at this organization is no matter who we have they never properly use a TE. Particularly someone like Bowers which is so much more and a great WR threat. Even with Rodgers the TE is invisible. Our offense is as predictable as it could possibly be depending on personnel on the field. I hold little hope we get this right on this go around which a top notch offensive minded CS.

I was all for the Fashanu pick, having the LT position locked down for a while is such a nice luxury for a team that is about to go through another rebuild. Obviously he was going to play this year with Tyron Smith here.

Having said that, Brock Bowers is damn good. Idk how he would be as a part of this offense, since the Jets have good players who all look bad. Definitely wouldn't hurt to have him though.

It's truly win win. We have Davante Freaking Adams and he doesn't ge the ball. Bowers wouldnt have mattered.

I think we needed to go tackle. The problem is Fuaga or Fautanu might have been better picks.

I think in a re-draft right now, Bowers would definitely be a top 10 pick and there could be an argument for top 5 though it would be a tough one with the way those QBs have played. I think that's a good threshold to identify failure when you pass on a player at 11. They wouldn't even have a chance at him in a re-draft.

Do we really need to keep talking about this? We could've drafted Bowers? We could've drafted Lamar Jackson!
Pat Mahomes! TJ Watt! CMC! Russell Wilson! Hell we could've drafted Rodgers! We gonna sit around and talk about that all day?? What's the point? And JD is gone on top of all that.

    If we drafted Bowers:
    A. He would not be putting up huge numbers in this offense because no one is putting up big numbers here. DAVANTE ADAMS AND GARRETT WILSON can't even make it work week in and week out because no one knows what the hell the offensive identity is here and
    B. Who would be playing LT right now??????

That's what this thread is about. Should we start talking about the CS?

    1) The future of the team matters even if the current coaching staff is incapable of making great players look good

    2) You are easily able to list all of those equivalent elite drafting failures

    3) The fact that some of those players were drafted closer to a decade ago means that it is something the Jets have done that spans multiple front offices illustrates larger problems than FO and CS.
