Agreed he is overpaid and should he come back, it would have to be for a lot less, but it is not his fault, it's the GMs that guaranteed the money. He actually took less than was guaranteed. As far as demands, I just listened to his presser: he is basically saying that if new regime wants him, he is willing to play for whoever and any scheme, the Jets are his top choice if he is coming back and they want him. I don't see any demands. I think it is pretty simple. He is a below average QB now, but if we cannot get someone better and for a price of below average QB, why not consider? We did have a lot worse for many years and I don't want to go back to that. Of course a lot depends on his performance in the next 6 games.
Why would a new GM and coach want to tie their future to the performance and peculiarities of Rodgers?
They may not if there is a better option available. I just don't know if there will be, assuming he keeps up average/little below average play the rest of the season. But it should be completely up to the new GM and coach.
While I am a strong supporter of having key consultants, it can quickly become immaterial as to how many good candidates the “consultants” recommend if the jobs come with major caveats such as: - AR is your starting QB for next year come hell or high water - Woody will provide a short list of HC to the New GM to select from - Both the GM and HC will report directly to Woody It better be a clean sheet approach with adequate span of control that gives them full control as well as full responsibility
bench this fetid turd!!! once again throws game changing INT to give life to opposition when we have our foot on their throat ( see Pitts)
He's bottom 3rd of the league in QBR. 25th of 32. So we've moved up 3 or 4 spots. THATS what we traded for?
Ok I'll concede. This game was handed to the Jets on a platter and Rodgers threw it away. Couldn't have had a better start only for it to fall apart. Its over.
you know my feeling smug about not wanting Rodgers and thinking it was going to be a disaster is starting to wear off a bit
Watching the game today sober for the first time in weeks. made it look obvious to me. No one on the staff holds him accountable for anything. He gets away with everything and gets upset at everyone else when anything goes wrong. Meanwhile he has thrown away so many games this season and it all falls on his shoulders. If we had a real head coach who would hold him accountable things might be different. At 21-7 if he makes a simple throw to GA we're up 28-7 and the game is over. Instead a few plays later he threw the pick six and the game was over.
We traded for a 2-year hype window to sell merchandise (with the added bonus of changing uniforms so that people had to buy 2 Rodgers jerseys) and season tickets. THAT's what we traded for. It was NEVER about football. Not for a single second. None of the decisions made by this franchise are done with a football first mindset.
It was over back in January. It just became "officially" over today. Absolutely disgusting that our owner and our GM literally punted on two consecutive seasons.
Good thing we traded 2 2nds for this guy paid him a heap load of money and got his butt buddy Hackett to permanently regress all our offensive players and install his elementary school offense for this guy, nice dividends he’s paying
He sold a bunch of merch and season tickets and got the Jets a bunch of primetime games over a two year span. He succeeded above and beyond what was expected of him.
