Being set for life as well as the potential to become a Jets legend if you can pull off a winning season and a playoff birth could be enough to make a good candidate come here.

Having to work for Woody is a massive negative that’s really hard to get past, though.

It wouldn’t surprise me either, but I don’t think we need to have a fire sale either. We have some good young talent under contract, with 5th year options upcoming. There is no need to get rid of young stars like Q, Quincy, Sauce, GW, Hall, or JJ. I would keep all of them. We need to fucking fix the OL and with new coaching, I think this is a roster we can win with. I really do. I know many are down on Sauce especially, but Q has also had a down year. I think it’s more coaching and motivation…this team just started mailing it in once Saleh was fired…especially the D.

I think with new coaching, if it’s the right coach, we’d see new energy. Again, it would not surprise me to see maybe one big name get traded, but we don’t need a fire sale.

Not worried about their ability to fill the position. Worried about their ability to get someone who’s worked at high levels with successful organizations. People have already thrown a few names around in here that look like good candidates.

Going from the top to the bottom isn’t really the issue that some think it is. It’s having to manage a bonkers owner while doing it that is. That he’ll be gone for a few years is a massive positive that could help things along.

Afraid no one will want to come here with Johnson/ Rodgers. If I were a potential candidate I would ask that woody sign a napkin saying he will fuck off and sit in his box with mouth shut

@westiedog1 and others... Go stand in a corner and repeat 1 million times:

"Bill Belichick is not coming to the Jets."
"Bill Belichick is not coming to the Jets."
"Bill Belichick is not coming to the Jets."
"Bill Belichick is not coming to the Jets."

    Add on, for good measure:

    "Neither is Pete Carroll"
    "Neither is Pete Carroll"
    "Neither is Pete Carroll"
    "Neither is Pete Carroll"

I simply don't understand some of you people. This is NOT just a "football" issue. The ONLY thing you can say about the ENTIRE franchise is they have the most whizz bang super de duper Marketing dept. because THAT is the ONLY thing that fucking works to any degree of success! Hell, they had hall of fame coaches and league front office men touting the NY Jets before the season started. But we fans knew. "Most" of us anyway.

I keep reading this isn't a total tear down. "We've got young talent on this team."

    Bullshit.

This stain of a franchise, that Wood-RUFF and his lame-dick brother Chris have completely destroyed, is shit from top to bottom (although keep that marketing dept.). That "young talent" people refer to has REGRESSED. They've checked out, mentally moved on! The ONLY way this team keeps any of that is with the Franchise Tag and they only have ONE of them to use. So, essentially, you are picking one of the young talent and FORCING them to stay in a shithole situation where they KNOW their career is going to go straight to the dumpster that's been ablaze for some 20+ years. Are any of you people management? When an employee "checks out" it takes a near herculean effort to bring them back into the fold and that only works IF what you are shoveling isn't shit but rainbows! If Andy Reid walks through that door and the Johnson brothers sign, in blood, they won't meddle, then, maybe, you could convince current players there's hope but that shit ain't happening either. EVERYONE knows the best available coaching/GM talent is NOT walking through that door.

The ENTIRE roster needs turned over. What little good JD did has to be flushed and the entire situation built from the ground up. No one...let me repeat that, NO ONE of any worth or value is going to touch the NY Jets in their current iteration without iron clad contracts and agreements that they have TOTAL control and that the Johnson Brothers keep their fucking hands off and their useless asses OUT of the building! We know THAT ain't happening either so... What's the answer people?

The ONLY sure fire thing I can tell you is, none of these existing, Hall of Fame bound or successful, coaches/GM types is NOT coming to this crap hole. Of that, you can write it down.

Is he "really" gone? Being an Ambassador, this time around, won't be the "walk in the park" it was in the past. Essentially, the world fucking HATES the United States right now (except for Russia and N. Korea) so exactly "what" is numb nut Johnson going to do? I'll tell you what he's going to do, continue to screw with the NY Jets. Only difference is, Chris will be front and center for ALL of it as opposed to sitting with his thumb up his ass somewhere else. Either way the fans are fucked.

Well you certainly seem to be the expert on what's on the mind of other people. As for BB, I know it would be a long long shot that he would come here, but I said it's what I would do, not what I think will happen. From reports I've heard, BB hasn't said he's done with football. In fact I've heard his name mentioned in regards to positions on
various teams around the league. In my experience, it is amazing what money does to motivate people to accept jobs they might not ordinarily consider. Besides, he might consider it a challenge that his lofty ego can't resist. Straightening out the Jets mess just might be an achievement greater than his 6 Super Bowls. Many people died trying to climb Mt. Everest, but that didn't stop people from trying. As James Bond once said Never Say Never Again.

Well, I’d think if relations were poor that he’d have his work cutout for him. It’s just another job he’s not qualified for that he thinks he is, so he can go drive US UK relations into the ground or something while the Jets rebuild.

It didn’t matter last time, though. The Jets found a way.

It really depends on who they bring in and whether or not they’re beholden to like, Hymi or something.

I feel you. Sorry for the rant but I had to get this out of my system during the bye. I've pretty much written this team off but, as I stated in a different thread, I'll be watching this entire situation with an electron microscope and if I don't see cataclysmic change, I'm out...

That was a long time ago. Quarterbacks aren't the only guys who get washed with age. Belichick is washed now.

I don’t really understand the call for BB. Personally I’m in the washed camp. Without Brady, he wasn’t good…yes I know they had like one good year when Brady got hurt and Matt Cassell won a bunch of games…but that was in the middle of their dynasty. The recent history is total trash. He wasn’t a great drafter. And he’s old. And he’s hated the Jets for a long time.

So no, I don’t want any part of him here.

I remember back when Herm Edwards got fired and I ran to my dad all excited and he just sighed and said "somebody's gotta stay".
I no longer get excited about new HC or GMs.

    I get it now.

Honestly, this is not a bad spot if you are a General Manager.

    1. Low expectations. I mean the lowest possible.
    2. Much more talented roster than an actual (3-8) team.
    3. Lost a couple 3rd rounds picks but most of your draft picks are intact.
    4. Some young players you can trade for more picks if you want a true rebuild.
    5. You can be a hero if you actually do turn this franchise around.
