Either Ar is washed or Ar is playing scared in that case just bring back zack wilson at this point. Ar didn't throw one pass this game over 15 yards, dude is washed. Father time has caught up to him, don't repeat Zack Wilson again, cut your losses and move on and use that extra year and have Thyroid/ drafted qb hoping he develops.
This is the Aaron Rodgers we all hoped we were getting but a lot of us (myself included) didn’t realize how bad his mobility had gotten and figured he would be somewhat mobile even at his age but we all need to face reality that this is who he is. If he does come back next year, this team will need him to be complimentary piece and not focus the entire offense around him again.
If any of you think he is the answer take a look at this: Winning % as Jets starting QB: Zach Wilson .364 Sam Darnold .342 Aaron Rodgers .273 Its mind blowing to think that Zack and Sam (by the way guy is havng a very good year) have better winning %, get him outta her NOW!!!!!
Winning % is a team state. Yes, Aaron Rodgers could be better, but he's been better than Wilson by a good amount. Rodgers currently 17 TDs, 7 picks, QBR 50. Wilson's never been close to any of those numbers. There are many major issues with the team. Sam Darnold back on the team this year would probably have the exact same results as Rodgers if not worse.
damned if you do, damned if you don't. -If they keep Rodgers next year its only $23.5 million against the cap but then we have to watch this washed-up prick most likely lead us to a last place finish again. -If Rodgers is cut or retires its a $49 million cap hit penalty, just absurd. Yeah, after June 1st you can spilt it between 2 seasons but then were taking $35 mill off the top in 2026 for a guy in a drugged-out cave somewhere. Aaron Rodgers contract: When can the Jets move on, and how much will it cost? - SBNation.com -- I say just peel the band-aid off. If you hang onto him for the savings it seriously damages the coaching search and I don't see value in kicking the can down the road with the post-June 1st split. If Rodgers won't do it, then Woody should announce prior to the week 18 finale that it will be Rodgers last game as a NY Jet. He would be sending a message to prospective new coaches that its a clean slate for them. I'd also take the entire penalty in 2025. It will hurt, lots of players will have to leave, and we will suck bad, but we suck bad anyway with them. Then you are clean slate with cap room in 2026
I really do not care about your supposition with Sam... I care about his win total.... that what counts, doesn't it. Its his O (if you recalled, they created it esp. for him and him only), not HC or OC, but his, A large part of the problem is not coaching but his failure to elevate others around him and whats worse even teach the O. Its an abject failure. BTW - Sam is 8-2... 67.9, 2387, 8.1 19-10 99.2 (significant diff between passing yards per attempt), just saying. AR = 63.4 2442 ,4.5, 17-7 88.9
When Zach Wilson is used as any metric of competence in any way, it is past time to abandon all hope.
Well yeah, but Minnesota is a much better coached team. The win total isn't his alone. Main point was that Rodgers has been better at QB than Wilson, by a good amount, even though he's been mediocre at best. With Zach, the surrounding talent played better, including the defense.
Small quibble here as not I'm in no way trying to argue Rodgers not being being better then Zach at QB, but: Aaron Rodgers' arguably "fluffy" thrown TD total doesn't really tell a great comparative story at face value since "his" offense has kinda ended up making it more of a focal point effort to get him TD. For example Zach had 4 total redzone pass attempts (for 3 TD) inside the 5 last year. Mr. "MVPs Mean The Most To Me" likes to throw a lot more then that down there. He's among the league leaders at 14 (for 6 TD), and which for context sake is twice as many attempts as Breece Hall has seen carries.
Maybe Rodgers has some ideas on who the HC and GM should be. Didn't they offer him an ownership stake to come over or was that just some passing rumor?
Taking the entire penalty in 2025 is also good because that's the year it'll be a league-wide tankapalooza for Archie Manning. Whether Manning would agree to be drafted by the Jets is another story though lol.
If we’re just gonna have to pay him anyway, and we’re pretty much guaranteed to finish last again, then make sure he’s as miserable as humanly possible. Davante, Lazard, released. Hackett, fired. Give him zero say in any decisions. Have a fucking backbone and show him he’s not calling the shots anymore. If he decides to retire? Good! Fuck him!
