Whats all this social media chatter I am hearing about giving the reigns to Curtis and Parcells in advisory role? o_O

I had no idea Curtis Martin was still involved with football stuff these days

I'm also hearing that the drum we've been beating over the years is finally happening. That is, Woody will hire a VP of Football Ops and let him run the show instead of that moron brother of his. I can see CM doing that job especially with Parcells in an advisory role so that any idea of tampering that might cross Christopher's or Woody's minds won't do any real damage as it has in the past.

At the very least, it gets Rodgers out of the BLDG which is critical to any real change for the Jets. He has to go no ifs, ands or buts about it.

I like the idea of a football ops guy, but again, we have to hope that Woody can hire the right guy, which we all know is a fucking crapshoot with little to no chance of success.

All that being said, I guess I’m not sure how the VP of Football Ops and a GM roles intersect? Doesn’t a GM basically own what happens from a football standpoint (scouting, draft, free agency, roster mgmt, coaching hires, etc.). If that’s true, then what does the VP Football Ops do in terms of impacting the product on the field? I would think that role is more of a business mgmt type role, so would include stadium operations, revenue/profit mgmt, etc.)?

And then once you get past that, then I’m not sure why Curtis Martin’s name is coming up in any of this? That makes like zero sense…unless he’s been doing this without us knowing about it, I can’t think of yet another stupid decision as to have a total newbie take on a large overarching role like that? What qualifications would Curtis have to do that role?

    I don’t get it.

Curtis Martin famously didn’t like football and said he never watched games. Where is this nonsense coming from?

Sounds about right from 1JD to me. I love Curtis but I don't think he has any business in that role.

Reminds me of when Miami gave Marino that figurehead role with no responsibilities back in the day.

Agreed, C-Mart has no business in the front office of any football team.

Let's hope this is all bullshit because, yet again, the last thing this team needs is anyone, who hasn't been actively in football as of this moment in time, with their hands on jack and shit. Curtis Martin is a HoF running back. Nothing more...nothing less. Unless he's been running some football operations in Siberia or something, I want no part of it. Same with Parcells. It's a different game today and he's been "out" too long. No part of that either.

Look, I love both those guys but no amount of "reaching for the past" is going to fix the nightmare that is this present. Only current football people are going to fix this shit show and THAT will only happen if Dumb ass keeps his ownership hands OUT of the cookie jar!

Curtis Martin has said he moved on from football and has not followed in years. So naturally the Jets organization will give him a shot.

Curtis Martin never struck me as the kind of man to do things just for show.

And for him to get that type of position after THIS type of season I have to believe he's going to put in the work to get things turned around. If he's going to have Parcells in his ear that'll help him a lot.

But what a ahole Woody is he could've hired Jim Harbaugh after last season. The modern day Parcells/franchise fixer.

I know it's bad Karma to wish death on someone... Can I hope for a 5 year coma?? J/K...but only "slightly."

Realistically, has there ever been a scenario where an owner has been forced to sell a team without there being some kind of LE scenario like there was in Washington? Unfortunately, I think it all boils down to cash and/or lack thereof. Seeing as our stadium always looks packed with lemmings willing to throw their cash at Woody we may never have a choice.

I can't imagine anyone would fall for this. It is SO clearly the usual bullshit attempt to try and make the fans happy with a big name, in this case a franchise legend, to try and ease the pain of reality.

Nothing to see here - move along or put out cookies for Santa Claus. I don't care which.

We tried to get Arod as our saviour it did not work, Curtis Martin ain't our saviour either, Only thing that will save us is if Johnson and Johnson goes bankrupt and they are forced to sell the team.

You do understand that neither Woody Johnson nor the NYJets have anything to do with the health care company, right?

Gary Myers, a sports reporter in NY has been trumpeting this the past few days. WFAN radio hosts have been bashing him about it, so it's a volley going back and forth.

I don't think you need to be a lifelong scout to be a good team president. John Lynch has done a good job with the 49ers, they said he was too inexperienced when he got the job

I'm not sure Curtis himself is the answer but I like the idea of tapping into Jets alumni, and thinking about doing things differently like this

Just stop with all the stupid nostalgia picks.

This is the problem with many Jets fans. Just never get it. The blueprint is out there. No need to get overly creative because the Jets don't know the meaning of that word.

Get Borgonzi or Agnew along with Ben Johnson and now you got something here.

This is the best chance the Jets have had in forever and they get a 2 month head start on the rest of the league. The first good move Woody has made in, well, basically ever.

    the blueprint? what blueprint....

the best team in the league, Detroit, of which you are advocating, bucked the blueprint strongly.... They traded away their franchise QB. They replaced him with a cast off, and hired an unconventional HC with a bunch of former players, aka, "stupid nostalgia picks" on his staff

Detroit has shown there are multiple ways to build a good team. As has Buffalo, btw. The classic blueprint would not call for trading up for an inaccurate QB out of Wyoming! and they were killed on draft day!
