The only GMs who got at least five years with a worse winning percentage than Douglas (31.9%) since 1977 are Matt Millen of the Lions (24.2%) and Dave Caldwell of the Jaguars (28.9%). But Douglas's first season where the Jets went 7-9 was with Maccagnan's team because Douglas didn't get the job until after the draft. Remove that season and his winning percentage drops to 29.5%. Still slightly better than Caldwell, but the 2017 Jaguars team that made the AFC championship game puts him above Douglas in my book. 28.9% with an AFC championship game beats 29.5% or 31.9% with no playoff appearances.

Matt Millen was worse, there's no denying that. He's by consensus the worst GM in NFL history for a reason. But by winning percentage, Douglas is the 3rd worst GM in NFL history, and the way I see it, it's more accurate to say he's the 2nd worst GM in NFL history.

I actually thought it sounded like a very good hire when the Jets got him. But you can't argue with results. Woody was insane to bring him and Saleh back after last season.

I saw a couple morons in the fire Douglas thread saying they can’t blame him because it’s coaching and development that’s the issue. LOL

This just goes to show how braindead Woody is. Douglas probably should've been fired after the 2022 season and he 1000% should've been fired after last season. Now we've hamstrung the next GM because he'll have to clean up all of Douglas' "mortgage the future to save my job" moves the last 2 years.

I've been beating the drum to fire Douglas ever since he drafted Zach Wilson. That set us back years-- drafting a guy who looks 15 years old and had only 1 decent year in college against a creampuff schedule during COVID.

I am convinced that JD witnessed Woody committing a felony and is blackmailing him to keep the GM gig.

So it is 5 years or 4 because MacCagnan built the team before JD took over the first year?

Worst GM we have ever had that’s for sure.
And considering Idzik, Mac and Bradway that’s saying whole lot.

    It’s been 6 years.
And the first year of “Mac’s team” was JDs most successful year of the 6.

    worst gm
We ever had by far, first 2 drafts literaly took the top 5 biggest busts in jets history, could not build a offensive line in 6 years, what other gm can you say the same thing about? Even his greatest draft the only player that looks good from it now is Garrett, his record is what it says it is, one of the worst GMs in nfl history, but what do you expect when he got hired by the worst owner in nfl history?

He's gone....who's next? I'm clueless. I thought JD was a good pick at the time, but, seriously, who?

But he's done soooo many good things. /s

He should have been fired 2-3 years ago. Easily the worst we've ever had. Makes Idzik look competent.

The damage Douglas has done will certainly outlive his tenure with the Jets.

23m in dead cap for Rodgers in 25. No defensive front to stop the run. The wide receiver / TE room is about to be in shambles. The LB group and Safety group needs to be addressed. No serious coach / GM is going to want to take on Rodgers after his performance this year.

The offensive line has been a total disaster.

The Jets are not seeing the playoffs for at least 5 seasons.

Almost the whole cap tied up for next year while a bunch of people leaving into free agency, and massive holes to fill. don't forget trading 2 3rds's for has been journey man making insane money.

If you give him 2019, he's still the 3rd worst ever by winning percentage. And it will be 5 full years post-2019 once this season is over.

Yeah that makes it even worse. At least Idzik didn't mortgage the future, and even Maccagnan didn't mortgage the future to this extent.

they went “all-in” on fools gold. Simple as that.

We are fucked, no point in following the team for the foreseeable future.

The draft pick situation for 2025 could be worse. The problem is no one around this organization can do anything with them.

They will need to trade some young talent for capital to fill holes with rookie contract players because the team mismanaged money

Read an article yesterday pitching Ray Agnew, the Lions assistant GM, as our next GM. He has helped build the Lions into a powerhouse. His son Ray is a pro scout for the jets.
The same article advocated that Agnew bring w him Aaron Glenn to coach the jets next year. We're already talking about next year.
