I'm here all the time. Disgusted, just as much as all of you are. This defense blows cant stop anything! say what you want about offense. The o line has been disgusting also, which I'm surprised has not been talked about more.
They have simply given up. Not all of them but they are not giving it their all as a unit so this is what happens.
Different unit without Coach Saleh. Not even fair to compare. Under Coach Saleh they brought the pain now they look helpess against the likes of Arizona and get trucked over by Richardson.
Right now, they are the bigger liability. The offense has been underwhelming, but the defense has been almost non-existent. Even weak offenses have been able to have their way with the defense.
Bart Scott is absolutely savaging Sauce Gardner on SNY for his terrible defense on the chunk play in the last drive. He explained perfectly why Gardner's play wasn't just stupid, but also lazy. Everyone agrees that the defensive performance on the last two drives was beyond pathetic, but the Gardner non-play really sticks out. That he then pointed his finger at the safety he left out to dry was just the icing on the cake.
This, most definitely all day long and TWICE on Sunday. This team has mailed it in and they are, literally, just past the half way mark. Get ready folks, this is going to turn out to be the worst Jets season of all time. Especially when you consider the talent level.
I knew it was over when they had to settle for a FG and it became a 5 pt lead. 3 timeouts plus the 2 minute warning, it was over. SOJ.
I was really worried when Ulbrich replaced Saleh. I have NEVER been a fan of his defense. It's been the same thing every year since he's been the DC: Very soft, predictable zone coverage, no blitzing, no disguising anything, no spying the QB, prevent defense on every 3rd and long, and a scheme that banks on players' talent to overcome the lack of planning.
It's hard to believe but the offense is still a significantly bigger problem. We're scoring 17 PPG - 26th in the league. It's pathetic. The defense isn't good but it's above average.
Well below average according to what? Our defense is 10th in points per game, 7th in yards per game, and 4th in yards per play.
Sauce has proven to be the most over rated CB by many, starting with me. He absolutely has no heart for the game, he is lazy, won’t tackle, and gave up on the Jets consistent with the firing of Saleh. The secondary is a colander thanks to him hanging the safeties out to dry. The firing of Saleh and the moving of Ulbrich up accomplished only one thing, converting our strength into our biggest weakness, and fixed fuck all in the offensive side of the ball.
I'm on the fence with Sauce. I think how he's playing says a lot more about the shitty environment he's in. Yeah, I know he's a pro but, at some point, even NFL players have been known to throw in the towel. To be honest, in the past, this could be career suicide but, in this case, I don't think so. The whole NFL is watching this shit show unfold and I can't say that it will be held against him by anyone other than Jets fans... That kid is going to have a fantastic career and the Jets will be the Jets... Not exactly what "we" want to hear but that's my opinion on the subject.
