    Happy Veterans Day to those who served.... When I say that to my pops, it's not that well received and usually starts some kind of rant ( Huey crew chief / door gunner in Vietnam ). Unfortunately he's never really acknowledged or embraced his service status.. until the state of Florida offered him free registration on his truck ;)

    In Turkey, every male is obligated to serve for 12 months once they hit age 20.

    If you live abroad and you are a dual citizen, you pay Turkish government $10,000 and they reduce your obligation from 1 year to 3 weeks. I did serve in Turkish Army for 3 weeks back in 2009. Am I considered veteran?

    We were all fat byz. This was more like a camp more than an army stuff. We slept in bunkers and woke up at 5 to start the day etc but nothing else.
