Someone needs to tell pencil dick Woody that it doesn't take 6 years for a gm to turn around a team, every team since fatass took over that drafted top 5 that year made the playoffs, Bill Parcells turned the Jets from a 1-15 team to 9-8 team in 1 freakin year. All it takes is hiring the right people which moron Woody can't seem to do.
Brook - you have more freedom than most in your choice of fandom because unlike most, you weren’t born into or grew up in the city of the team, nor did you have a die hard fan family that you had to please, so this begs the question…. why the hell are you putting yourself through this man? Lol. Jump ship, bills mafia would love to have you! Lol. Btw, my best friend is a browns fan and I’m asking him the same. He never lived there, didn’t grow up there, born and raised in Houston. Why he has so much loyalty is beyond me lol.
I remember blow up dolls in the stands, fires being set in the upper deck, Joe must go, Kotite, the implosion of the Rex era (including foot fetishes, butt fumbles, Tebowmania)….This is worlds worse. The ineptitude of Idzik, McCagnan, and now Douglas has set this team to be incredibly devoid of young talent and now is saddled by the incredible cost in salary cap and draft picks for the next couple years. We have 2 years just to backfill the cupboards with decent talent at the bottom of our roster. We have no young pipeline for OL, nothing for LB, nothing for Safeties, and no QB. We will definitely have a top pick in 2026, likely will in 2025 as well, but we have zero evidence that we will hire the right person to make these picks. It’s byond awful right now. I don’t see our next legit playoff possibility until 2027 or 2028.
Picture Ulbrich in a little green dress knocking on your door to sell you girl scout cookies for fifty bucks a box. Now you might love those thin mints and appreciate the cause and tradition but you need to develop a defensive mechanism to save your sanity. Not believing anything the Jets tell you is a start. So, how did that job interview go?
So I’m in my 59th year of Jet fandom. In all that time they’ve given me one moment of joy, when I was barely old enough to appreciate it. I remember when the Hess conglomerate announced they were selling the team I was ecstatic. Little did I know they would sell it to a piece of human garbage who cares not one wit about the average fan. A franchise that, in over 60 years of existence, has never even had its own stadium. And when the opportunity for a stadium to call our own finally arose, this money hungry douchebag turned his back on the fans again and went in with the giants to build a luxury box heavy shithole in the swamp. That there for me delineates the problem with this franchise. That scumbag is the one constant in these last two decades of misery. And while he’s there, it’ll never change.
Unfortunately, I believe that in life, you don't pick your team... the team picks you. I've actually tried to "switch" to the Giants in recent years. It doesn't work. The feels have to be there. (Although I used to hate them almost as much as I loved the Jets, and that's not the case anymore, but I think that's a result of losing my emotional attachment to the Jets and NFL in general.) It's also why I'm saddled with Tottenham Hotspur, who give me almost as much agita as the Jets. Unfortunately once you're in, you can't just "switch," I've found. Hey, @Brook! at least you have Galatasaray!
I think the thing we need to clean up on these plans is the "failed" part. Seems to be a consistent part of everything they've tried so far. I think they did a good job putting the team together this year. It just didn't work. I guess in hindsight the one thing you can maybe 2nd guess is they should have been a little bit nastier getting rid of this coaching staff and admitting to themselves that as a unit they just weren't up to the job. It would have seemed rash to have actually done it a year ago though so I can't even totally kill them for not doing that even though its pretty clear now it would have been a good idea to try.
I think I am out for the season now. I cant watch it. I sat and watched yesterday with some hope, the defense has been terrible for weeks but I thought that O could put up some points. Its stacked and still we cant it done. Defense whiffing on tackles, easy runs for Arizona just scything through our line, corners playing soft and just getting ripped. But the O moved up and down the field ok at times but just cant score. So we basically stink on both sides of the ball. at 3-7 the hook is ready for us. there is not way we can streak through our schedule, we are looking worse by the week on both sides of the ball. Another season down the toilet and then an 8 month wait for the next season. The NFL breaks you in this way because you cannot even take two months out and start over the gap is so monumentally long between seasons. I really wish they would stretch out the season longer. spread it over 5 months or so. I dont know, something. two AFC champ games and then nothing. 15 years of nothing. its just crazy. but its not making the playoffs that does my head in, its every season seeing the same thing. An over bloated defense and an O that cannot score no matter who we pick or trade for. Hope is smashed. Lets head for the no.1 pick and rinse and repeat our off season of hope that goes nowhere.
Honestly, it looked so bad I thought these guys just didn't want to play football anymore. As my devious mind started to troll for reasons, I thought maybe these guys are playing so poorly because they want to get off the Jets. A lot of the 2022 draft class will be up for contract renewals next year. Or maybe it's their way of getting even for the Saleh firing who many of the players genuinely liked even though he was a lousy coach. These were the only excuses I could come up with that made any sense of the dismal play I was watching.
Maybe all the younger players have ayahuasca vape pens now and they are tripping balls during the games.
I don't usually like Serby but this one strikes a chord. https://nypost.com/2024/11/11/sport...on-rodgers-sad-state-of-jets-years-in-making/
Why would a coach like that want to coach the Jets and be part of a clearly disfunctional organizaiton?
there is something kinda comforting in this uncertain world where things change on a whim, you can always at least count on the Jets sucking
