A thought just popped into my head - it is very Jetsy that the two most underperforming teams in the NFL this season (jets and Cowboys) are coached by the Jets DC and the guy that was (iirc) down to the final two for the Jets job - the Jets sure are good at spotting coaching talent
I don’t know why, I was stupid I guess, but I expected more from Ulbrich. He’s just a much shittier version of Saleh
Well, let's not go that far with the genius thing. This is more like dumb and dumber situation. Or dumber and dumberer. Saleh has proven to be a solid DC, but a bad HC. Brick is a terrible HC, and may not even be a good DC either.
.Middleton is another beta, he's actually kind of sheepish. I guess if we want to improve draft position.
Turns out, Saleh was the one holding this ship even close to together. That doesn't make him a great HC or anything, but I honestly underestimated how impactful he was for the defense. I was starting to think he was a figurehead and Ulbrich was the brains. Not the case clearly.
Thinking is overrated. Thank you Woody for this most perfect of slogans for yourself and this franchise. Really amazing stuff. I've said it so many times now but this team would have had a better chance with Saleh. Still would have had discipline and game plan problems but no way they're 3-7 with Saleh IMO.
This 100%. We are at the point now where you really do have to acknowledge that firing Saleh mid season, as the best coach in our building, was a complete mistake. At least if chasing more total wins was the top 2024 priority. As it's basically crystal clear that the defense took a meaningful step backwards as soon as he was removed from that equation. These "feel good" immediate reaction decisions need to stop being at wheel of every road we choose to go down.
The firing had no sense of timing and showed every symptom of an embarrassed limp dick owner having a mid-season tantrum after his team got beaten in front of his high society British peers. Saleh's presence wasn't that much of a positive but his sudden absence was going to have an effect.
The team has continued on the same course it has been on for the last four years and now a bunch of you think it's a mistake that Saleh was canned? Seriously?
Writing was on the wall when we didn't win Ulbrich's first game as HC. Bad teams win their first games with new HCs pretty regularly because of the spark that results from a change. Ulbrich's first game was indistinguishable from a Saleh game.
Deer in head lights. Maybe in another few years when he has a moment to gather himself with the responsibility he may do ok but this ain't it. Everyone is gone after this year
In a reality where we as fans of this team just want a better overall chance for this flawed team to win games? Yes. Having the defense back to at least playing at the level it was before he got thrown out of the building would of at very worst been an upgrade to what we've seen it regress into since. I'm really starting to question if you even watch these games btw. Not that your constant howling at the moon probably cares.
When Ulbrich goes to challenge something he appears nervous, indecisive and/or doesn’t seem to know the rules The defense has gotten worse since he started with the new responsibilities and lastly the team has come out flat way too much in the games he has coached
