he's been poor this year. great night with a once in 10 yrs TD. can he makes this a turning point? we'll stay tuned. itd sure be sweet
I voted yes. that's what he's been. one performance doesn't change that. stacking productive games and big moments does.
You guys are nuts…he’s been a consistent 1000 yard receiver with the likes of Zach, Boyle, and White throwing to him. His body control is insane and it showed today on a few plays…the one where he spun in the air to reach back and catch a pass on third down, the TD, etc. He’s a pretty fucking great receiver to my eyes and should be one of the foundational guys going forward
He was tied for 6th in the NFL in receiving coming in to last night and we all agree he hasn’t been very good with some drops and miscommunications and what not early on. So that just really shows how good he is and can be. He’s been “down” and still is a great with a great string of games going here.
Well said. No doubt. Top priority from that rookie class. Also, waiting on some merch with GW's silhouette on that one-handed snag. Don't miss the opportunity Jets marketing department
I usually hate these overrated/underrated questions. Like what is the baseline here. If someone says he's a top 3 receiver, he's probably being overrated. If someone says he's a number 2 receiver, he's being underrated. He's 7th in the league in receiving yards (probably a bit higher after Sunday). He's got 5 TDs this year, we can circle back after everyone plays this weekend and we'll see where he's at. He struggled to start the season getting on the same page with Rodgers. We can see now they're starting to play well together. A couple more weeks like the last two, and he'll be right up at the top of the league.
Exactly…it’s a very subjective discussion…may be overrated to some or underrated to some…but maybe a better discussion is where he fits in the wider NFL. Is he a top 5 guy? Top 10 guy? Top 15 guy? That kind of thing. There are 32 teams, each team starts at least 2 and more often 3 WRs. That’s between 64 and 96 guys. He’s closer to the top than the bottom of that list… He’s very good. We should make sure we keep him. We drafted him, how about let’s keep the few good players we draft. I hate the kind of talk about trading away great players for picks just to start over again. We don’t make too many great draft picks. He’s one of them. Let’s go.
Garrett was being held to a high standard because we saw what he did with Zach and spare parts. Him not being on the same page as Aaron for most of the first part of the season made people believe he may have been overrated. I don't think that's true. I DO feel that the last two games at least, Garrett seems to be in sync with Rodgers. Last night, I felt like they are right there in terms of symmetry. I think the next game we will see them be in unison like how we thought they would be. Despite that, the numbers were there, and with that big time catch to his portfolio, I think the conversations will be had to say that he's actually a top WR and #1 guy.
One big time catch doesnt do it. He's gotta stack quality performances and cut out the drops. Last night shows what his peak is. We've seen teh valleys too. Now, gotta cut down on the valley performances and increase the peak ones. Am not sure winning OROY helped him. In terms of attitude toward the grind.
Yep, and we need far more consistency out of the QB, it goes hand in hand. The whole offense has been sputtering
He is not elite but he is still Top 15 when it comes to receivers. So no he is not overrated in general but probably overrated by Jets fans in general.
He's at 94yds per game over the last 5 games. I bet he only gets better as the season goes as he gets in sync with Rodgers. He's already stacked great games. A few mistakes, but the Steelers drop was actually just a young player's mistake of trying to catch with your pads. Now that he's running in the slot more – he'll be more deadly to Ds... like the first touchdown catch he had yesterday.
He's #2 in receiving yards in the entire league LOL. He'll probably drop to #4 by end of the weekend.
His last five games are as follows. 9 catches, 90 yards, 2TDs 5 catches, 113 yards 5 catches, 61 yards, 1 bad drop/interception 8 catches, 107 yards, 1TD 13 catches, 101 yards, 1TD What sort of string of games do you need? I also like when you are questioning his work ethic. The kid shows nothing but a dissatisfaction towards a lack of success. He never seems like he’s having a good time or satisfied with his performance. What do you base this “lack of attitude to the grind” to? Can you share some clips please?
Wilson is very very good, but I also think if he's in a bad situation he starts to lose it both mentally and his performance. That being said, the Jets have been a total shit show and he has performed. Maybe it's more the Jets definitely won't be able to keep him if they continue the shit show.
