Only things like this can happen to the Jets. Another brilliant move by our General Manager.

If he tries to come back right at the 6 games left point, the Jets should take a couple of weeks to activate him to the active roster, which they have every right to do, so that his contract still tolls and they get him again next season. F him

He should have renegotiated the contract before giving up draft compensation for him. When came up against the same resistance he's facing now to a new contract, he could have not gone forward with the trade and let the franchise keep its draft pick.

I mean he said he’d report to the team, Reddick went back on that

Everyone was blaming JD, yet a very decent offer was on the table, the agency was ready to accept it, but this individual declined. You can’t predict this type of behavior. The man has completely lost it. I fully concur with another comment provided here. If he plans to comes back with six games left. Take the most allowed time to activate him, make him unable or physical unfit to play, and toll him for next year. The man needs a psychiatrist.

I think the blaming of JD comes in because he never should've traded for a guy who wasn't certain to show up, and the fact that he wanted to renegotiate his contract should've been a warning flag. Personally I wouldn't have made the trade unless the Eagles had gotten him to sign a new contract. Did we really need somebody like Reddick at the cost of losing a young guy like JJ and risking the distraction of Reddick holding out? Maybe it was a "reasonable" risk that just didn't work out, but why did he take the risk in the first place?

I do agree with you that at this point the Jets should just tie him up and not allow him to go anywhere else. Why reward this behavior? Only if some team offered a strong return piece (which is highly unlikely at this point), would I consider letting him go.

Exactly. He should have negotiated a new contract before making the trade. And if/when that fell through, he shouldn't have gone through with the trade.

Instead, he gave the Eagles a third round pick to take their headache off their hands.

JD fucked up, plain and simple. He got schooled by a much better GM in Howie Roseman and a better FO overall in the Eagles.

This isn't some backroom deal where a handshake or someone's word means something. That world died a long time ago. In any Multibillion dollar industry like the NFL you always have a contract in place before you exchange goods or services.

That is contract negotiation 101 and Joe Douglas failed miserably.

Reddick makes zero sense because he has to come back by week 13 otherwise he does not go to free agency and has to do this all again next year. So either he comes back and ends up losing or he doesn't come back and has to repeat this. Also if he goes to free agency it would be best for him to play well on the field to get more money.

The fact that he didnt take the deal that was in place shows hes either extremely stubborn or does not understand his own value or is just crazy. If im JD im leaving the deal on the table and will just reduce the offer amount as each week goes by. If he plans to show up before week 13 it will cost him. Also if he was as valuable as he believes he is then another team would have traded for his presence by now but no one has nor likely will.

Yep but it doesn't make sense for the Jets to give him up for nothing. It also doesnt make sense for a team to give up a lot for him when theoretically he will be a free agent next year and they can just get him in the offseason without giving anything up. Reddick has to pray at this point a team wants him bad enough that they are willing to give up a lot for him AND also give him that multi-year deal. Likely not going to happen. If im the Jets at this point im not giving him up for anything less than what was traded for him. At the end of the day he will have to come to play by week 13. Also once when the trade deadline passes he will lose whatever leverage he has left.

This guy must be the biggest moron in history, gave up 14.5 million this year to look like a gigantic asshole and a team cancer, who gonna give this idiot a multi year contract now that he is on the wrong side of 30 and hasn't played football in a year? I have a feeling he will be one of those athletes who went broke as soon as he retires to, he is just a moron, only player still holding out this year. Either he is the biggest moron on earth or he is going to pull a Rickey Williams and retire and walk away from Football to smoke weed all day. But than again this is the Jets, only the Jets can give up a 3rd round pick for a player who doesn't want to play for them. This organization is dumb as hell.
