Glad your family is safe! It’s absolutely horrible what’s happened up there. It’s so under reported too. We’re going up a week from Monday. We won’t be able to go to places we usually visit because some aren’t even there anymore. Still people stuck and/or missing, and some still without power and water Almost 14 days later.
Well, He is a God who answers prayer, so, I thank you GangGreen for your support, as I and my family are safe this morning. Now, to turn the attention of my selfish natures towards others who will surely be in need...
The glass sliders at my daughters were bowing last night, they flexed but they held. It had us on edge. My house held up, but most of the carport is gone, a little damage to my lanai, think my mom lost her roof but had to pick up a ladder so I could check
Woken up in the middle of the night to the sounds of branches smashing my house....Somehow power stayed on (neighborhoods a mile in each direction lost power / powerlines)... Sump pump powered through the night. No flooding, all good aside from a trashed yard.... still havent gone outside as doors are sealed, and not ready to climb out the window and walk in the mud yet....
Everybody made it through safe here last night. Tons and tons of damage outside though. Absolutely no power whatsoever. Had to drive a few miles down the road to get service for my phone.
Guys. So glad to hear from all you guys. My sister called yesterday and asked about hurricane. Told her i have friends in the path. She is a devout Muslim. She prayed for you guys alongside me. KW, Stinky, Waterboy and onejetfan. So glad you guys are OK. Now I can drink to that tonight.
2 bloody marys down, time for beer.... rain bands are getting in the way of my cleanup attempts, but at least I can walk out my front door
Found the membrane for my mom's roof and dragged that mother fecker back up on there, which I could not have managed without my son in law Thor. Have it attached temporary until I get the roof guy out. Knew I wouldn't find enough tarps to get it done right now. Got all my metal from the carport by the side of the house. Now on to calling insurance, this should be fun.
I had my bottle of Rabbit Hole bourbon with me last night but then my son in law's dad showed with a bottle of Woodford Reserve so I figured might as well finish that and I'll still have my Rabbit Hole to bring home.
My wife's best friend lives in Dunedin. We were there in the Spring for her wedding. Hope you, and all in Dunedin, and throughout Florida come through this in good shape.
Glad everyone in Fl is safe. Please let This be it. Country needs a break . My daughter decided to torment me and stay in st Pete. They did fine, got lucky they got the north side of the storm so it lessened the flooding.
I got power outage until 10/17 here. There is a certain peace that comes with mostly disconnecting from a digital world. I been embracing it. Walking around outside today was like stepping into a time machine that took me back to the late 80's. Pretty much everybody in the neighborhood outside at some point doing one thing or another. Everybody stopping to face-to-face chit chat. All the neighborhood kids gathered up playing different things in the biggest open field. I've met like 15 different new people I've lived within a 1 or 2 block radius to for going on like 20 years now. Not all bad. Or maybe it's just the new age ashwagandha stuff my wife pushed me into taking recently that just has my brain warped out lol
Glad you are safe my friend. Your post took me back to early 1980s. Early childhood in Southeastern Turkey. What you described was our routine back in the day.
