It’s a start but unless Hacket gets fired as well they’ll still have issues.

If a pitcher has a 3.75 era and a 7-14 record, the record isn't his fault. The same is true for Saleh's defense and the team's record. Especially when the OC who was his choice was actually pretty decent.

This is an offense, mind you, that had two of the top 15 pre-season ranked offensive weapons in the league in Breece Hall and Garret Wilson. If they dramatically improve over the next few weeks, the offense was 100% Saleh's fault.

Hackett isn't going anywhere as this offensive scheme is what AR is comfortable with. It is predicated on receivers knowing what do to based on what the defense is doing, which is why Devante Adams would be a huge help. I wonder if the trade fell through so the next best thing the front office could do was fire Saleh. The timing is quite surprising given the Jets are about to play a game with first place in the division on the line. Hopefully Keith Carter is canned soon too.

This is great and I am shocked Woody had the guts to do this.

Saleh never had it, whether it was mismanaging the use of timeouts, coming out flat after bye weeks/time off, media ineptitude, or game planning.

Hackett isn't going anywhere, but curious to see the offense and how they shift their strategy.

Saleh always wanted a run-first philosophy, and I think that changes immediately.

The team had adopted the personality of the coach. If you watched Saleh on the sidelines and in press conferences, he looked like a defeated man. It trickled down.
The locker room was lost, as indicated by the Rogers shove, the Quincy comments, and the Corley IG post.

I bet he'll bounce back fine as a DC. Wouldn't be surprised if some years from now with a better OC and QB he could be a successful HC. Lots of dysfunction around this team (some of it coming from him), but not all of it.

This will not help the possibly worst-running offense in the NFL though...

Belichick coming in. Trading for Adams. Signing Reddick. All before MNF.

Upside is.... JD has not been extended by Woody yet. Tells me his leash is pretty short as well. Might explain the firing as JD's neck is in the noose too. If Ulbrich shits the bed, Woody will eject JD as he'll have no choice given JD's record as GM sucks.

OK, this move will appease the fan base because we all know Saleh was in way over his head, but does it really make football sense?

    1. It won't help the offense as long as Hackett stays; and

    2. It may hurt the defense because Ulbrich will no longer be DC. Isn't this fucking with the one unit that was functioning well ?

Saleh brought absolutely 0 to the team. He will be gone and nobody will notice except the guy who has to pull him back towards the sideline when he was celebrating too much.

Jerry Rice wouldn't save this team's season. It doesn't work like that. The Jets offensive gameplan is so putrid and predictable that no one player is coming here and turning this thing around. Davante Adams is no different. He will be completely hamstrung like all of the Jets current skill players are by the inept Hackett. He may get a few more catches and some yardage but he will not the difference in turning this season around. At some point the Jets have to go to the real problem which is the guy who architects the offense, Hackett, and stop making excuses for him. Not to mention giving up valuable draft capital for a short term rental that isn't going to affect this team's fortunes in terms of postseason success? No way. Get me a young stud playmaker with that pick and pay him nothing for years to come. The Jets had all the time in the world this offseason to make a change at OC and they didn't do a damn thing.

    That's criminal.

Bringing someone from the outside woiuld be the best stop gap.
That’s how you save a season.
We always throw in the towel rather than adapt, admit a mistake, and pivot. That’s been the JD way every year.
