I really want to like this kid, but he clearly has whiffed on a few blocks very badly this year so far... and that's to the eye of a guy watching while drinking many beers at the bar
You find one instance of some shitty practice squad player to make your argument while the rest of the team is being sent out for bologna when they should be bringing back steak. Yeah, just keep doing what we’re doing
Can pretty much list the whole OL. How is Keith Carter keeping his job? Last year the excuses were the injuries. This year, one of the healthist RB rooms and OLs in the league and the OL is trash in both pass and run blocking.
The OL can not block and this stooge along with his dumb HC are going to get AR killed. BTW, the reason why AR is throwing quick passes is because the OL can not block shit... Teams can load up on the run because they can not throw deep.... LOL... and anyone who thinks DA will fix this is not paying attention. THe OL looks like it did last year.... bad.
And here I thought we got rid of the problem TE. When does Kenny Yeboah come back? Maybe call Zach Kuntz up from the practice squad.
Didn't we see the problem in scrimages or PS games ? I'm not saying the guy is going to be 100% over 17 games...but he's missed at least 3 or 4 key blocks so far YTD.
LOL So go for it on 4th and 1 on your 2 yd line too. Got it. I’ve seen this model even ESPN said it’s aggressive in the link you shared.
Uh, Woody will still make a huge profit b/c the fans buy tickets no matter what and watch the NFL in massive numbers.
But it's happening regularly. And Breece is clearly not running like he used to. He looks like he's hurt or just not trying.
That's the problem. The Jets often don't get 1st downs on 3rd or 4th down short yardage plays. They are terrible at that, but great at hitting short field goals.
Going for it on 4th down more often is one of the greater inefficiencies that still exists in the league. Coaches are still way too conservative by and large. Even if this model is overly aggressive, we still made the right decision going for it. This model says to go for it even on 4th and 4 from where we were on the field. Even if we cut the aggressiveness of this model in half, it would still have said to go for it. Please find a 4th down model that says not to go for it on 4th and 2 from your opponent's 26 yard line. It doesn't exist.
I believe in the model, but I also believe the model assumes a certain level of average running efficiency which we have been completely unable to demonstrate over the last 2 games. We have been totally incapable to score from the one yard line with a first and goal on four tries which is dismal at best. Fix our blocking wows and I’m with you 1000%.
A lot of coaches are finding ways to lose games based on these “models” though dude. If it says you convert it or win 75% of the games in the model, that’s great. What happens when you don’t get it? You are now 1/1 in not converting and the spreadsheet is useless. It’s too early to be chasing points like that IMO. Also keep in mind that we don’t have a QB sneak in our arsenal. And we have an offensive line that basically prevents us from converting short yardage situations. It’s a huge crutch in that situation.
Def valid points regarding our offensive ineptitude, but these models usually incorporate the worst offenses in the league as well as the best ones. If the model says to go for it even on 4th and 4, we're probably fine going for it on 4th and 2. The idea with strictly adhering to these models is that it may not ensure you win single games, but it will likely ensure you win more games over the course of a season than you would've otherwise. It doesn't work if coaches ad-lib and make decisions based on their gut here and there.
