The reason we got Olu is to avoid what happened last week (i.e. Rodgers being a tackling dummy) when inevitably our old OTs go down. As anticipated Moses went down, but unfortunately Olu didn't really help. Now, it is not just him, our coaching is extremely piss poor where we cannot pick up a blitz, but Olu sucked too, along with everyone else, perhaps even more so. Basically, the way our OL looked last week, there were was no point of getting Olu. Now, it is only one game and somehow Rodgers managed to barely survive. However, Minny blitzes a lot as well. Unless OIu, coaching, and the rest of OL steps up, our starting QB will be Martinez very soon. Then might as well have drafted Bowers. OL needs to step up this Sunday.
Just watched some all-22... and yikes. The 0-line play was gawd awful... it can't continue or Rodgers won't last till mid season.
thats exactly it, Fashanu is a redshirt player. He had to play and played poorly. This is the 11th overall draft pick we are talking about. You dont take a player who needs to redshirt at that spot. Of course they should've taken Bowers and then douglas goes and does the same thing in round 3, taking a WR in Corley who can't play either right away
Hoping it will get better this week. Otherwise we will be seeing Martinez soon. Corley - can he really be worse than Gipson?
Could have fooled me last week. And they played him over Big Mike too on the final drive. You know, when the ball hit him in the back and he wasn't even looking. Absolute shit performance. I would rather see Corley, maybe get some YAC. But Gipson was total shit.
Ya--whatever talk of X this preseason was all just blowing smoke--And his kick returning--straight line is shortest distance between two points--does that somehow go against the NYJ philosophy on punt and kick returns? Is he actually being coached to pause and then run at angles? We have far worse problems I know.
Still probably better than Max Mitchell or Carter Warren, which is a low bar admittedly. Seems like he showed better in spot duty against the Pats than last week, but our whole OL was bad. Let's give Olu more than one game before crushing him
Agreed. The whole OL was awful. DEN is a great D, but I think it had alot more to do with Hackett’s awful gameplan than anything. The OL has been pretty solid before last week, and I expect it to improve as they continue to gel so long as they stay relatively healthy
Yeah our offensive gameplan looked like it was completely thrown off that Denver was blitzing the shit out of us. With Vance Joseph as the defensive coordinator. Who has blitzed offenses his entire career.
One way to beat the blitz is to hurry up and get the play off before they can set their defense up this offense walks up the field, and snaps the ball with 1 second left on the play clock (if we are lucky), that's just begging for a nasty blitz
Good thing we didn't need Bowers, because soon as Olu has been placed on the offensive line Rodgers has been getting killed and is a season ending injury waiting to happen, while our offense is utter crap.
He’s been awful. Moses wasn’t very good either to be honest, but he got smoked all day long today. Doesn’t mean he can’t be good one day. But everyone’s justification for drafting him was that we’d have a good backup tackle when one of them inevitably gets hurt.
We're also just brimming with offensive weapons aren't we? Certainly couldn't use any more of those. Nope. Our leading receiver has 16 receptions for 200 yards on the year. On pace for an electric 50 reception 700 yard season!
I don't know I don't have faith when it comes to Joe D, Saleh and the offensive line, they have been brutal in that department since Jd got here, I do not trust them with the Offensive line or developing a Qb Ever.
