I love the artistry and beauty of these $20 gold coins which are part of our nation's economic, social, and political history. They really are fascinating, particularly the Saint-Gaudens coins and how many of them survived to this day. Unfortunately, the rising price of gold means that the floor to purchase both the Saint-Gaudens (1907-1933) and Liberty Head (1850-1907) coins has risen a bunch. A beautiful special gift for a family member at special occasions, too. A super-expensive high-grade example of a very special coin, the MCMVII (1907) High Relief which usually comes out at or near the top of America's Most Beautiful Coins: https://auctions.stacksbowers.com/l...ultra-high-relief-lettered-edge-proof-69-pcgs
I collect a lot of stuff--asian banknotes, antiquities such as ancient pottery and cuneiform tablets etc, but no US gold---I respect it though. I've bought some cool stuff via Stacks and Bowers. I'm watching some stuff right now--world currencies. Do you collect american silver? Mercury dimes; barber?
Nice !! I have some American currency: Silver and Gold Certificates....FRNs and National Currency Notes....etc. No, just Morgan SDs and some modern commemoratives/collectibles. Silver duplicates of gold can be alot cheaper !!
