When I returned from my hiatus last season I noticed they weren't around. I can't remember seeing them this season. I thought it was cool the Jets decided to finally get some cheerleaders. Football & cheerleaders it's as American as apple pie. Peanut butter & jelly. Football & cheerleaders. The Jets just decided to not have cheerleaders any more?
Disbanded before last season. Jets PR team heard we had an aging Packer QB coming into the locker room, and they quashed the harassment lawsuit before it could happen.
Just when I got used to them being there, they were gone. Woody The Tool Johnson. Never know what's going to be next. With all the time he spends choosing and announcing the what jersey color combos the team is going to wear each game week, he had notime left for the Flight Crew.
Speaking as a non-American, I mean this respectfully, but one of the few things I've always disliked about the sport is the presence of cheerleaders. Maybe it's cultural differences, I don't know, but I've always thought it demeaning to women and not appropriate. All the pratting around on the field and firing Tee Shirt cannons into the crowd when the game should be taking place is bloody pointless. I'm glad The Jets are now one of the eight teams without cheerleaders. (Jets, Giants, Steelers, Bills, Packers, Browns, Bears & Chargers). I commend them all.
Not only that, but those poor women were paid a PITTANCE!! Actually, I think using the word "paid" might be incorrect. They really didn't make jack. Considering how much money is tied up in the NFL, you'd think they would at least make minimum wage but that's not the case. It would be one thing if it were a real job where they could support themselves but to just "be there" for men to oogle, naw, I'll pass. These are professional athletes. They do not need them nor does the crowd need a set of cheerleaders. That's what Fireman Ed is for!
You are entitled to your opinion but in the UK, and other countries, teams have violent hooligan clans at their games, I think some cute cheerleaders is rather fine compared to that
Who needs a troupe of scantily-clad, young and attractive ladies when we have football going on? I certainly don't. I couldn't wrap my head around why these girls are even there.
