He was an excellent running back for a few years.. Almost made it to 1000 yards in 1978. https://www.syracuse.com/sports/2024/09/former-new-york-jets-running-back-dies.html
He also had more than 200 receiving yards that year (1978), and was 6th in the league in rushing TDs with 10. RIP.
Oh no!! I remember in Shea they had a little marquis scoreboard in left field that said "thank heaven for Kevin" after he made a good play. RIP Kevin, you were a good Jet!
Rest in peace, Kevin. What a draft that was in 1977: Marvin Powell, Wesley Walker, Scott Dierking, Joe Klecko, Dan Alexander, and Kevin Long.
#33 if I remember correctly. RIP Kevin Long. Part of the successful stable of RB's employed in those years. Kevin was a good player for us. A bit overlooked. Thank you for your Jets service. Like others, you deserved better.
Haha, yeah, classic banner. I think AndyDrums is referring to the "Diamond Vision" crappy scoreboard. To this day my bother and I openly refer to the "Falcones" and "Cardnials" because of spelling mistakes made by the operator of that very scoreboard.
