Yeah saw that and was a bit surprised as well…man he went from pretty dominant in our first training camp with him to not on a team…I wonder if that injury really just sapped a lot of his explosiveness?
Former first round CB Caleb Farley released by the Titans and former second round WR Terrace Marshall released by the Panthers. I think Marshall allegedly had a good camp.
According to Sabo at jet x: The notable absences at today's practice—which include Mr. Irrelevant—are as follows: Brandon Codrington Chris Glaser Zack Kuntz Jaylen Key
I don't think the Jets are even thinking of adding a LB. They like Surratt and Eguavoen and may not have room on the roster for either of them. If they add a camp cut, imo it will most likely be at WR, S, or IOL.
QB Sam Hartmann was cut by the Commanders. Kedarius Toney was cut by the Chiefs. QB Michael Pratt was cut by the Packers.
I'm sure GB will try to resign Pratt to the PS, but if not the Jets should be interested. Believe he was also a target of theirs this year
The Jets and the other 31 NFL teams will spend much of today cutting their rosters from 90 to 53 and Jalen Key is the first Jets draft pick to go. Taken with the 257th and final pick, Key did very little in preseason action and has been waived according to Zach Rosenblatt of The Athletic. The team has also reportedly waived running back Xazavian Valladay and safety Al Blades. Valladay spent last season on the Jets practice squad and may return. Blades, an undrafted free agent out of Duke was always a long shot after signing with Gang Green. Cornerback Tre Swilling has also been let go after a solid camp having come in late in the process.
Both NFL.com and PFN.com only have TE Neal Johnson as being waived, and he was only here for around a week earlier in the offseason and then released. Don't know why they're showing him and not showing Key, Valladay, Blades or Swilling. I've not seen any confirmation that Codrington, Glaser or Kuntz were cut, either.
Terrace Marshall was cut by the Panthers, but I don't know if Reed and Marshall could co-exist on the same team. The Texans released Noah Brown. He's had 500 yard seasons the last couple of years.
Connor Hughes - "Can't remember last time you could say this about a team: Per sources, the #Jets are keeping 3 UDFA defensive linemen on their initial 53. Very unheard of. Eric Watts (UConn), Leonard Taylor (Miami) & Braiden McGregor (Michigan). Testament to those three guys. Also a sign #NYJ knew that there was no chance they were getting through waivers."
Jets and Bills make a trade. Ian Rapoport on X: "AFC East trade: The #Bills have traded for #Jets DB and returner Brandon Codrington, per me and @TomPelissero. It’s for a swap of late 2026 picks." / X
Trades between divisional rivals usually don't happen but they can. Didn't the Eagles and Commanders make a trade about a month ago.
Justin Fried @JustinTFried · Follow The #Jets have waived OG Kohl Levao, per source. Levao, a former UFL standout, posted an excellent 77.7 PFF grade in the preseason and had a strong summer. He’s expected to re-sign with the Jets practice squad if he clears waivers. 3:36 PM · Aug 27, 2024
I count ELEVEN defensive lineman assuming Solomon Thomas & Clemons. They also includes Reddick. That’s way too many unless we plan on having Clemons try to cover kicks with these new whacky rules.
Haven’t seen a final list yet but if they are keeping 11 DL it’s probably just roster cut down mgmt at this point…want to protect guys from waivers probably and then there will be a bit of a resettling of the overall roster after all teams’ cuts are in…likely we pick up a guy or two who was cut from another team…I think WR and maybe OL would be areas we’d be looking at there
