Last preseason game before we head to San Francisco to open the season. Game will be shown on NFL Network nationally. For folks living in New York metro area game will also be shown on CBS 2. Still no final word from Saleh about Rodgers but Rodgers think if he begs Saleh he will maybe play against the Giants. Here is the youtube clip. I know everyone thinks practice is a good substitute for actual game playing but it might be a good idea for the starters on the OLine at least get to play one series against the Giants. Rodgers should take a snap as he hasn't been in a game in over a year.
Every year this debate comes up, and I'm not really leaning heavily one way or the other because starters not playing at all the whole preseason is becoming more, and more the norm. However with our circumstances, I would love to see the full starting team, at least on offense play 1 drive. I would be ok with 2 even. Something about going into San Fran on a Monday night for the first game action for the unit ever, against an elite defense, the team that placed 2nd in the NFL last year... I have to believe if the starters were going to play at all this preseason it would've been last night. I rushed home to watch the game when I saw that Rodgers wasn't playing and Tyrod Taylor and Hall etc. and on tv the stadium sounded dead no buzz at all I tuned out after a short time. I can't imagine coach Saleh playing anyone important in the final preseason game/this close to week 1.
Yup. When they used to play 4 preseason games it was always the 3rd one that was closest to a regular season game as the starters played well into the 2nd quarter or even the whole half. With 3 preseason games now, it is the middle where the starters usually play the most. The last one the starters usually don't play at all with week 1 right around the corner.
Actually, when they played four preseason games, they actually played four full games. While new guys and marginal players got rotated in and out starters performed as if the games counted. They did, to them. By just a few days we missed the 55th anniversary of maybe the best preseason game ever played in the NFL. About 125 miles away there was some kind of big concert going on but that didn't stop over 70,000 football fans from going to a preseason game. I was one of them. Alot of people forget the Giants actually fired Allie Sherman after that blowout loss.....in the preseason. That's how embarrassed they were....
Well, he didn't get fired until September, after the Giants went 0 - 5 in the preseason. The Jets may have gotten the attention but, as I've said here more than once, the NFL is a results oriented business; losing five in a row is not the result owners look for.
One thing is certain... One of those 2 kid QB's will make the PS and one won't. I fully expect them to play as well as Hackett allows with his innovative and dynamic playcalls..
True but that loss in particular - 37-14 to the crosstown rival Super Bowl Champion Jets - drove Mara bonkers. Yes the Giants stunk anyway and he wasn’t happy with Sherman to begin with but that loss right there was the straw that broke the camel’s back …. To this day the younger Mara can’t stand the Jets. I read after that 2019 game the Jets won Mara was stomping around the locker room fuming and nobody dared talk to him LOL.

Especially when we have an Offensive Line with new players in it. You need game action. Preseason is preseason for a reason. Test young players out and give veterans some game action. Rodgers says he was never hit in training camp. Well, we are going against SF who will hit the shit out of him. So, what is the harm for Giants hitting him some before San Fransisco?
If Rodgers wanted to play then Saleh would play the entire 1st-string offense. This is on Rodgers. Mahomes played last week and he was in the SB in February. Rodgers hasn’t played a full game in two years but he’s too important/fragile/self-important to take a few snaps this week.
Facing a tough Niners defense right away will be difficult. If it were up to me, I would have played Rodgers at least one or two series this preseason. He hasn't played in two years minus the few plays against the Bills.
Seriously how much rust are they supposed to shake off in a couple preseason series? If Breece, Garrett or anyone else of significance went down in meaningless preseason snaps we all know plenty would be skewering Saleh. And criticizing Rodgers for not playing is asinine. Give me a break
