Ian Rapoport on X: "The #Dolphins and their QB Tua Tagovailoa have a deal! Sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo they’ve agreed to terms on 4-year, $212.4M contract extension to lock him in long-term. At long-last, Miami’s franchise QB is paid like it. https://t.co/rW5sTJzBQo" / X
Wonder if they put any injury clauses in that contract. One more concussion may put him on the shelf for a long time
I read some specifics I think on CBS that says this is a good deal for the Dolphins. I’m sure they have an out after the 3rd year so they get to decide if they want to continue with Tua only by the time he’s 30. The going rates for QB’s is just ridiculous at this point. They need some sort of cap relief exemption for them.
I agree. That, or some sort of rule such as no more than 10 per cent of the cap to any one player. It’s just ridiculous to have a guy getting 50 times what some of his teammates are getting.
Nobody is saying all players should earn the same, but the amount quarterbacks are getting is a problem now. I think it’s similar to the way something had to be done about the money given to the overall No.1 draft pick each year. Each year they were getting a new record salary until the wage scale was brought in.
