Knicks bugaboo Reggie Miller is announcing tomorrow night. He already hexed the Knicks today: "Just know, the Boogeyman is coming back to town to call the game. I am coming." Right now, I'm just enjoying the ride.
Between Miller always thinking the Knicks are getting help from the officials, and Subban complaining about officiating helping the Rangers, it's getting rough to listen to any of the pre and post game shows but the games have been great.
Crazy stuff. Jalen Brunson is the first player in NBA playoff history to have 4 games in a row with 40+ points and 5+ assists.
Great.... I'll have to watch the game on mute. Hopefully Knicks can slay this dragon. Knicks haven't beat Indy in the playoffs since 1999.
So apparently Pacers coach thinks every call in the 2nd game was wrong. Submitted a complaint to the league over 78 calls, 29 from game 1 and 49 from game 2. Does anyone know what the average number of calls per game is? I'm wondering what % of total calls 49 is. I wonder if he included all the missed calls early in the game, looks like nothing much was getting called on the Pacers early.
It's all obvious gamesmanship, trying to influence the referees for the games in Indianapolis, but IMO going so far over the top ruins the argument in its ludicrousness. The real issue, which I'm sure he realizes, is that the Knicks are outworking and outclutching (not a word, I'm sure) the Pacers by an extremely wide margin. While I'm sure he's tearing the team a new one in private about that, he can't do it publicly at this point, so he figures that whining about the mean refs is all he's got.
I'm not saying there weren't any questionable calls but the calls did not decide game 2. An argument could be made, game 1 could have turned, but I've seen too many calls against all my teams to really give a fuck about his whining.
In my opinion, the NBA's officiating will always be under question in every game and has been for a long time, but that almost makes it normal at this point. If you can come to terms with that then you can enjoy it as entertainment, but the rules simply aren't enforced across the board and it tarnishes the product for me. The NFL is doing their best to catch up.
