According to Rich Cimini, The Jets have signed undrafted rookie QB Colby Suits, per his agent. The 6-4. 240-pound Suits was a tryout player at rookie minicamp. Played last season for Houston Christian. Prior to that, he was at UL-Monroe. Nathan Shackelford @nathanshack19 Congrats to @Colby_Suits on signing with the @NYJets! They're hiring ruby players as punters, why not this guy. Put him on the o-line. Even if he just stood there, it would take a DE 1-1.5 seconds extra just to run around him.

Hopefully, we'll get a chance to learn why Suits was signed and Pee Wee released. PeeWee's collegiate stats are much better than Suits'. The completion percentage is about the same, but PeeWee had a lot more yards and TDs and far fewer interceptions. Did Suits grasp our offense more quickly and/or show some improvement over the 2-3 days of mini-camp than PeeWee. Did Suits read the D bettter and make quicker decisions? Based on his collegiate stats, he didn't make very good decisions. Pee Wee also was a threat to run the ball. Suits' arm doesn't look that strong to me.
I like Peasely as a developmental Qb. Good athlete, speed and supposedly was hurt (shoulder) in college his last year and couldn't throw deep. The one thing I've noticed in watching some games is ability to quickly go through progressions and how often he is able to get to his third option. Suits is a big throwback power thrower. I didn't think much of him tbh, but evidently the Jets were ultra impressed vs the other QB's they brought in.
I'm really puzzled by what they see in Suits. Granted, I've only seen his stats from his last two years in college and a short highlights video, but at both schools he threw almost as many picks as TDs, and he has little, if any mobility. Peasley I totally get and I like, but I like what I've seen and read about Pee Wee and Darren Grainger much better than I like what I've seen and read from Suits, but chances are that none of them amount to anything anyway, especially with the Jets' track record of not developing QBs.
I dunno… Teams don’t usually give out explanations for roster decision making on the 6th string QB. I think you are gonna be disappointed in the information you are seeking and just have to figure one guy looked better than the other on try out day

Peasley was a god awful thrower when he was at Utah State in limited action and his first year at Wyoming. And then his coach at Wyoming decided that he should just be a runner given the style of play and the difficult stadium they play in. It’s possible he was hurt. But man, go look at some Utah State film or 2022 Wyoming film and he was just atrocious. Reminds me a bit of Streveler.

No, he couldn't. He's not very mobile or agile. PeeWee Jarrett, Jr. is 6'5" and 240 and IS mobile and can get first downs with his feet.
