Dont expect him to make the roster, but what is the current status regarding military players and their ability to postpone their service requirements? I thought they were able to if they made a team, but also heard potential changes to that under the current regime. If that opportunity still exists, does it extend to practice squads too?

I like the look of this "PeeWee" Jarrett kid. He had amazing stats, although his completion percentage wasn't great (56%). He has great size and is pretty fast and elusive for his size. Strong arm, yet has good touch. If he can read NFL Ds and improve his completion percentage. He might could develop into at least a capable backup.

The stats may be great, and I know literally nothing about the kid, but that completion rate probably means he will not be a decent QB in the NFL. It only gets harder. Level of competition is WAY better. DBs are WAY better. If he could only manage 56% in a low division in college, that isn’t going to magically become 65% in the NFL. Probably a deal killer to me…not saying don’t give him a chance…just saying the chance of him becoming even a decent backup is probably less than 5%. LOL…maybe zero if I consider our OC and offensive coaching staff!
Listening to Connor Rogers the other day he alluded to Jachai Polite while discussing Taylor's fall out of the draft. Seems to be a talent vs desire thing with him. We'll see.
I basically agree, but imo it depends upon why his completion percentage was so low. Does he have fundamentals issues like footwork or a hitch in his delivery? Did his WRs drop a lot of passes? In the highlight films a LOT of his passes are deep throws. Were an exhorbitantly large percentage of his throws 30 yards or more? There could be valid and fixable reasons why his completion percentage was that low, but if not then yeah, I agree that he probably won't make it in the NFL. Still, you gotta love his size, speed for his size and arm.
Camp body. Need QBs to run the offenses when you start camp with nearly 100 men. Maybe an outside shot at making the practice squad and running scout team.
One other thing I just thought of. Josh Allen fixed his inaccuracy, and if he can do it, other QBs can do it as well. Not to say that "Pee Wee" is or can be compared to Josh Allen, but Allen's completion percentage his Jr. year was 56%. His Sr. season, it was 56.2%. His rookie season in the NFL it was 52.8%, and he was able to fix his accuracy. Of course, we don't have Brian Daboll as our HC or OC, and I don't think there's anyone on the Jets that could help him fix his accuracy, but Daboll could be available next season. It all depends upon what is the cause of the inaccuracy, "Pee Wee's" mental acuity, how quickly he learns, how hard he is willing to work, and how much he wants it/loves football. He potentially could find a QB coach to help him fix his issues. I'm not saying that he will, and I'm certainly not holding out hope that he will, because of "Jets," but it is potentially possible, just not bloody likely. It would certainly be a great story and would solve the Jets' problems at QB if he or Travis developed into their QB of the future. Based on his size and tools, I'd prefer it was him rather than Travis, but it will be a win if either pans out to just be the Jets backup QB going forward.
You're probably gonna be correct, but he threw downfield a lot in that offense, RB's, WR's couldn't handle his ball (he needs work there as he doesn't change up speeds well). The 56% = 51% 2 years ago and 59% last season so showing some improvement....
In reading about he UDFAs, I ran across that the Jets guaranteed $245k of Eric Watts salary (which is the highest of all the UDFA players added) and $220k of Braiden McGregor's salary, but there was no mention of any guarantee or how much was guaranteed of Leonard Taylor's salary. Since Taylor is supposedly the most talented of the Jets' UDFAs, one would think that he would have received the most guaranteed money. I read somewhere that Taylor's work ethic leaves something to be desired. I don't know whether that's true or not, but think it could well be and that would be a good reason why they didn't guarantee him a lot of money. Another interesting thing I ran across in an sny.tv article (Which Jets UDFAs have best chance of contributing during the 2024 season?) is that JD told reporters that when they drafted Jaylen Key with the last pick in the draft, they didn't have anyone with a draftable grade on their board.
According to NYJ twitter we waived Marquiss Spencer--I guess he didn't up his game in the offseason because he had a chance on this DL.
