correct. That’s my opinion. And I’m explaining to you like four different reasons why I believe it to be the case while you’re telling me he won’t even play let alone start because he wasn’t taken in the 1st round and his tape is against shit competition.
I said mostly redshirt, I think he will play some, I’m just not expecting much year 1. Even the great Deebo Samuel, coming from the SEC was a part time player year 1 with little impact
I’m not really taking a position here since I’ve always been of the opinion that it’s player dependent and studs can be found anywhere in the draft. But the data is certainly interesting on first year contributions. 2018 third round receivers DAL - Michael Gallup, 33 catches, 507 yards NOR - Tre’Quan Smith, 28 catches, 427 yards 2019 third round receivers PIT - Diontae Johnson, 59 catches, 680 yards SFO - Jalen Hurd, 0 catches, 0 yards WAS - Terry McLaurin, 58 catches, 919 yards BAL - Miles Boykin, 13 catches, 198 yards 2020 third round receivers LVR - Lynn Bowden Jr., 28 catches, 211 yards LVR - Bryan Edwards, 11 catches, 193 yards BAL - Devin Duvernay, 20 catches, 201 yards 2021 third round receivers LAC - Josh Palmer, 33 catches, 353 yards WAS - Dynami Brown, 12 catches, 165 yards GB - Amari Rodgers, 4 catches, 45 yards HOU - Nico Collins, 33 catches, 446 yards CLE - Anthony Schwartz, 10 catches, 135 yards 2022 third round receivers CHI - Velus Jones Jr. - 7 catches, 107 yards DAL - Jalen Tolbert, 2 catches, 12 yards CLE - David Bell, 24 catches, 212 yards SFO - Danny Gray, 1 catch, 10 yards 2023 third round receivers HOU - Tank Dell, 47 catches, 709 yards NYG - Jalen Hyatt, 23 catches, 373 yards CLE - Cedric Tillman, 21 catches, 224 yards IND - Josh Downs, 68 catches, 771 yards ARI - Michael Wilson, 38 catches, 565 yards
Eh not really true. He was pretty impactful year one but he also went 36th overall and was consistently mocked in that range/fringe first rounder.
Look guys, as far as a small school argument, I completely get it. Which is why Sr Bowl was really important for Corley. He went against P5 players all week, and by all accounts, was one of the top if not the top overall WR in the Sr Bowl. I have also provided all 22 every snap he played against Ohio St this year, where played extremely well. The guy belongs. He was a consensus second round pick by pretty much every respected analyst, including Rogers and Daniel Jeremiah. DJ had him #44. Now of course he is a 3d round guy, and he is no Nabers/Odunze, but the fact he killed at Sr Bowl in spite of being from small school is very encouraging. https://sports.yahoo.com/2024-senior-bowl-player-honors-001656592.html https://www.nfl.com/news/2024-senio...op-10-nfl-draft-winners-from-week-of-practice https://bleacherreport.com/articles...ggest-winners-and-losers-from-the-senior-bowl https://fantasydata.com/dynasty-football-report-senior-bowl-winners-and-losers https://app.podscribe.ai/episode/96066265 https://www.fantasypros.com/2024/02...wl-takeaways-winners-losers-fantasy-football/
That expression means that most of his passes were not downfield, but the receiver was either at or behind the LOS, so they were screen passes or quick passes and then they expected YAC.
He will be in the slot. The only other slot WRs the Jets have are Gipson and Lazard runs some routes from the slot. Corley will get opportunities early and often.
The new wave has been these quick WR bubble screens, quick passes...see how the SB was played...Rice got a ton of burn off of those quick passes. Rodgers loves to do those quick pop passes and even last year, as much crap (deservedly so) our OC gets, he eventually started to do the same for the offense. Having a guy who fits that role helps a lot and he can take those reps away from Gipson.
One thing I will tell you - JD and Saleh sounded a lot happier when they got Corley than when they got Olu. Even showed text messages as a proof. It sure sounds like they really wanted a WR. I am almost positive Rome would have been the pick had Chicago selected someone else and they were pretty bummed to lose him a pick before ours. But they getting Corley, who appears to have been VERY high on their board, made them a lot happier after losing on Rome.
I try not to get too much of a hi-light film boner, but, man I like this pick a lot. He could be special.
