Odd that Aaron Rodgers drafted a QB in the 5th round

He'll help Travis rehab his ankle injury with dolphin noises. ;)

Was hoping for Pratt or Rattler, but can't be mad about this pick. If he pans out, we'll at least have a backup when Rogers leaves, maybe more.

This guy was on his way to NY as a Heisman finalist last year before he broke his leg. Not that it determines future NFL success (Jason White). Good value here as he would have probably gone 2nd round somewhere at worst if he didn't get injured.

The potential is there. The lack of high expectations and being able to sit a couple years behind Rodgers could make a huge difference. I like that he has a lot of experience, not just a single season. He's definitely improved year after year.

Hard to complain about the value getting him with a very late 5th.

I don’t think he amounts to much in the NFL but I think he’s a big time competitor and a true winner which is always good to have on the roster.

I know nothing about this kid…but just getting back and checking on what happened today so far and see we got the dreaded “developmental QB”

I was truly not understanding the desire to get a late round QB. These guys almost NEVER pan out. Sure, Brady, Purdy, that’s about it. Across 32 teams, not just us. But ESPECIALLY us…shit, we’ve never been able to develop a QB no matter where we draft them…we’ve tried top 5 (Sanchez, Darnold), we’ve tried second round (Clemens, Hackenberg), we’ve tried mid rounds (Bryce Petty, James Morgan, Brooks Bollinger). None have worked for us. Overwhelmingly, starting QBs come from the first and some from the second round. A few like Dak come from the 4th, but hardly any.

In our entire history…we’ve drafted exactly 3 QBs that worked, and all first rounders, in Namath, O’Brien, and Pennington. That’s it. And only Namath was truly GREAT.

So to me, while I love the IDEA of drafting a mid round QB to develop, in actual PRACTICE, it almost never happens. I feel like it’s just throwing away a pick.

I’m not gonna complain about a 5th round pick on a QB, but chances are it’s not gonna work

I'd prefer to draft one of these every single season versus selecting even one in the top 10 of any draft.

Hard to know how he will translate to the NFL, but I do know Florida State was night and day different with him on the field and off. Definitely worth a 5th round risk!

Difference is with Travis is that he had a really bad leg injury last season on the way to leading his team to the playoffs. He would have been a 2nd round pick minimum if he stayed healthy. 2 years to sit, heal, bulk up and learn the NFL game and he could be the future.

As a longtime FSU fan, I don’t like this pick although I loved the player before his injury. Before his injury, I saw him as a Russell Wilson type QB for his upside. The injury he sustained was pretty catastrophic and a near career ender which will likely limit his mobility(a huge part of his game although he’s not a true dual threat QB), not just for scrambling but even evading hits in the pocket.
I was surprised he was even drafted tbh and assumed he would end up as a UDFA.
What I will say is this, if anyone has the attitude and character to come back from an injury like that, it would be Travis. He oozes character and intangibles.

Finally, we finally get a multi talent QB. Any QB that can run, give us another play options, or special plays regardless if he ever starts is a great access to have. Good value pick here!

    Ehh…

I don’t have a huge problem using a 5th rounder, but chances are he won’t pan out. Not gonna complain about it but honestly I would rather have kept those 4th rounders and used them on best available OL and WR, though I do like the Wisconsin RB

He was a 2nd rounder if he didn't snap his leg 2 weeks before the CFBP

Those player cards are really hard on the eyes. I could have done a better job.

I think if I was gonna select a late round developmental QB, I would have went with Milton from Tennessee. At least he has a cannon.
