Bowers. I'm good at taking offensive linemen and wide receivers. Just not a tight end who isn't special. To a team that hasn't utilized that position properly since Mickey Shuler. Yeah, I would be uber bummed out.

I'm a bit more open minded about Bowers, if JD thinks is the pick so be it.

But whatever we do don't pick yet another defensive player!

A tight end who isn't special?

Then why is everyone saying he is special?...

The more anti-Bowers sentiment I see, the more sure I am he should be the pick.

Apologies up front, boozer. I have so much Big Crazy Love for Brock Bowers, sometimes I have to punch myself to make sure I'm focusing just on his football. I can't really argue the reason you give for not wanting him because it's objectively wrong. He IS special, everyone who's seen him play has SEEN special and he has two Mackey Awards that show it's the broader opinion in the football world. The only fair question is - will his specialness in college translate to specialness in the NFL. That's a fairer point. Pretty much the same leap I take when I say the opposite.

Taking a tight end that high is like taking a defensive tackle. If the guy ends up being a future Hall of Famer, then he'll be incredibly valuable, maybe even more valuable than a wide receiver/edge rusher. But anything less, and the value won't be there to justify the pick.

Joe Blewett from Jetsxfactor said he thinks Bowers is the 4th best receiver after the top 3 consensus WRs. He's significantly better than the 4th best consensus WR according to Blewett.

Joe Blewett. Heh. What an unfortunate name for a draft expert.

Maybe he can work out a name swap with Joe Douglas. Stay tuned.

I wouldn't have an issue with Bowers. I think if utilized correctly he could be a big time weapon and a mismatch against defenses

Imagine 13 personnel and Rodgers audibles Conklin and Bowers wide with Breece in the slot, Ruckert stays in.

I have no idea. He's just a big slower WR to me. I'm glad the Jets didn't take Bowers. Olu was not the sexy pick but he is the pick the Jets need right now. They have to protect Rodgers and make some holes for the runningbacks.

Not a problem we all have had that prospect that you want the Jets to take. I respect the comments about the stats and the abilities. I just think Bowers is not a good fit at this time. Conklin is a pretty good TE. I like the Jets receiving core. If anything we should have taken a WR to pair with Garrett to stretch out defenses and make it easier for Conklin to do some damage.

Oh well, we get to watch Conklin trip and fall down after he catches it some more

We'll see how "smart" and "safe" feel 3 years down the road where everything isn't a theory of averages.
