Is that a serious argument? In 2026 we will be rebuilding and need all the resources we have. People get pretty giddy and cavalier about throwing away future resources for a flash signing. Hey, I hope we do win the SB, or at least 10 games.
But if he doesn’t get ten sacks, isn’t that somewhat of a wasted trade? We want him to be an effective pass rusher as he has been the past couple of years.
Quality over quantity. I've been on this board for years and everyone always wants MORE PICKS. How about actual god damn star players on the field!? WTF.. this fanbase is obsessed with assets and rebuilds YEARS down the road instead of trying to win
What happened was we whiffed on Barrett, Clowney, and Cambell, and offered more for Riddick than he was worth. But we'll try to justify giving up the pick by signing him to a longer, more expensive deal. You look and the guy played more than twice as many snaps as Huff but only had one more sack. The eagles got a younger, cheaper DE, plus a high pick, and dumped an older expensive one on us. That's why they will remain a winning team long after our wheels fall off.
Imagine thinking that trading one of the best pass rushers from both a sack and pressure perspective of the last 5 years for a 3rd rounder three drafts from now is “dumping” him on someone. This fanbase never ceases to amaze.
Every time we make a trade its framed by obscure stats. This guy was the best 3rd down player on the road in the snow, etc. We gave up a high pick for a one year, expensive, aging player, whose production was already declining. This is why the eagles were likely happy to make this trade.
Except there are no obscure stats here. He’s very legitimately one of the best pass rushers in the league by most metrics. “Production declining” needs some context added…
I am happy this move was made, instead of not being made. We needed a pass rusher and it reinforces the win now approach from the front office Whats interesting will be the contract they give him? At this point, I think Joe D has a ton of regret for letting Huff go and is trying to make up for it. The draft pick? He can careless about it. It won't be his if we don't do anything this year, and he has pushed his chips to the center of the table
He's an elite pass rusher and still playing at a high level. If we get the same guy he's been the past few years he's going to make a huge impact so I don't hate the move in that sense. It'll continue to be a fierce defense. But the way I read it, he's making like 14 mil this year. Bryce Huff walked for 17. You mean to tell me JD is willing to trade draft capital for an older edge rusher while letting a homegrown, elite still ascending pass rusher for only a little more money? I can't wrap my head around letting Huff walk anymore.
I don’t think this is an indictment on WMD. Reddick was brought in to replace the role that Lawson was supposed to have last year. WMD will replace Huff’s role. The plan is the same as last year. Get up on teams early, then let the fresh pass rushers in the wide nine go. Hopefully, Rodgers won’t miss the whole season this time.
