Help for Aaron Rodgers: Veteran OL John Simpson is signing with the #Jets on a two-year deal worth up to $18 million, per his agent.
Holly shit. JD saved 17 mil on a top pass rusher and used up 9 of them on a depth OL scrub. The was the weak link on Baltimore O line. A Laken of 49ers. This is insane. JD lost it... The only hope is that maybe the actual price is a lot less than reported by his agent? This is a back-up G signing.
You wish. Since AVT is about to miss some time, if this is a back-up signing for 5-6 mil, I can live with it. Basically a Laken but as a back-up on the cheap. But for 9 mil? I mean Ezra Cleveland signed for 7-8 mil. Let's see what the actual number is. But this is a back-up depth signing. And not a great one.
He started 19 of 19 games last year for Baltimore, and is listed as having allowed only 1 sack. Durable and average isn't ideal but its a lot better than what we've had in recent years.
26 pressures pressures and 11 penalties, and that's with Lamar at QB and a good OL coach. For a swing back-up G I am OK with him if he costs 5-6 mil. Like I said he was the weak link of Baltimore OL. If this is our starter at LG though, I am disappointed.
Doesn't say much....Lamar would buy himself 5-10 sec a play. Really hoping it's really 1.8m and they forgot the decimal
The guy started every game for the Ravens, cut the crap with the put downs, he had to be decent to start every game for the best team in the AFC during the season.
Tomlinson was a pro bowler on a great oline before coming here. Simpson was the weakest link on a great oline in Baltimore, and he was horrendous before that. Maybe he's trending upward... we can hope. Tis the season of hope, our favorite time of the year.
He’s got a real nasty streak that our o-line was missing. Watch what the Long brothers had to say about him. No Laken here! https://x.com/greenlight/status/1722034985316602320?s=46
He got promoted off practice squad after guys in front of him got injured or sucked. Played for 1 mil in Baltimore. Before that sucked for 3 years in Vegas, which is why he was a PS guy. 9 mil is a huge overpay. He needs to be a back-up, and he can come in as a starter while AVT is out. This is not a guy you bring in as a key piece. JD is clearly bargain shopping.
Nasty, yes. But skills? I am not sure. A back-up, depth, sure. Starting LG? I think it would be a mistake. Unless other 4 spots are filled with great players like Baltimore.
If I told you before free agency that our top OL signing will be this guy, how would you react? There has to be more. We are losing star players on defense and signing scrubs on offense.
