If you want to hang your hat on those 7 wins, be my guest. And if you also don't want to blame the coach, be my guest twice.
I loved Jim Harbaugh when he was with the 49ers awesome head coach. Now have to wonder if he's been away from the NFL game too long? I'm not crazy about the idea of Mike Tomlin.
Sooooo Jets, they finally take a chance on a guy from the offensive side of the ball and they pick an imbecile like Gase after the last offensive guy was Kotite...
Belli (don't want him but somebody will get him) Pete Carrol McCarthy Harbaugh At least 4 proven Head Coaches are available and we are sticking with Saleh the blowhard. Too painful to be a Jets fan sometimes.
That was an outlier.... "He's coaching where football is headed!" - Christopher (I'm Woody's dumbfuck little brother" Johnson
Everybody has a price, no? But you are right. Woody is a clown and I doubt any established HC will want to work for Woody unless he throws a ton of money their way.
Bill interviewed with the Falcons. Atlanta Falcons on X: "We have interviewed Bill Belichick for our head coach opening" / X (twitter.com)
All those guys having been making millions for a decade (and you know Harbaugh can probably get a blank check from Michigan).... while everyone has a price, these guys of stature will get it regardless, so they are going to go somewhere where they think they'll win, and win their way.... and probably not working for a clown wearing his "bling" chain... Imagine Mike Tomlin going into a meeting with Woody.
Bill Belicheck, one of the greatest coaches of all time, mutually released. Pete Carroll - 170-20 record, SB winner, face of the franchise, mutually released Mike Vrabel - 54-45 record, 3 post season appearances including AFC championship appearance. Fired Mike Tomlin - 173-100-2 record, SB champion. Likely being let go shortly. Nick Sirianni - 34-7 record, 1 SB appearance, made playoffs every year. On the hot seat. Mike McCarthy - 167-102-2 record, 1 SB win, 8 Div titles. Likely to be fired today or tomorrow Robert Saleh - 18-33 record, zero playoff appearances, multiple records of offensive futility set under his tenure….. has full confidence of ownership. We’re on an entirely different level of incompetence these days, and it’s only gonna get worse.
Nobody's hanging their hats on this. You guys act like this is the worst team ever constructed. They aren't a dumpster fire, they are MEDIOCRE / below average without Rodgers AS EVERYONE EXPECTED when he went down.
If the Steelers get rid of Tomlin, that's way dumber than the Jets keeping Saleh. The Cowboys firing McCarthy would also be very dumb. So was the Titans firing Vrabel. Belichick and Carroll I get because of their age. Sirianni is the only one who's not in his 70s where firing him could be justified, though I'd still give him another year unless players are revolting behind the scenes.
I think it would be a combination of money and control…any one of those coaches would probably want to bring in their own front office people to work with, and given enough cash and enough control, I would assume they’d be willing to do it…
The fact that you point to 7 wins and say it's not the fault of the coaching means you're hanging your hat on it. Aaron Rodgers or no Aaron Rodgers, the talent on this team didn't dictate the poor level of preparation and discipline this team showed all season long. That, my friend, is a dumpster fire.
Firing Sirianni makes a lot less sense than McCarthy IMO. The Eagles have made the playoffs 3x years in a row and a SB appearance with a QB a lot predicted would be a career backup. McCarthy can’t win a home playoff game against wild card teams with maybe the best roster in the league and two guys (CD, Parsons) who can win OPOY or DPOY any year.
When McCarthy was in Green Bay every body attributed early play off exits to Rodgers but maybe it was McCarthy?
Neither one should be fired from what we know, but the Eagles collapsed so hard that maybe Sirriani did something that lost him the locker room. That's the scenario where firing him would be justified. Otherwise I agree you don't fire a coach with his results.
In most years, I’d agree with you. But the prospects of potentially upgrading McCarthy this year are greater than in most other years with Carroll, Belichick and Harbaugh available. Whether they’re actual upgrades or not remains to be seen, but the Cowboys can’t lose that game like that.
