Looking like we’ll have the 10th pick. Petty rough though considering it’s looking like we might have had the 5th pick with a loss today. Classic Jets. We should all get very familiar with Fashanu, Fuaga, Nabers, Odunze, and Bowers. As of right now, one of those 5 should be the pick if we end up staying at 10.
I think we'd have a great team if all of our picks were top 10 picks. Unfortunately none of them would fit our idiotic systems on offense and defense.
We would have been 6th, basically a win dropped us 4 spots. Good chance at Alt with #6, and definitely Olu. But, 10th is not the worst that could have happened. It is what it is at this point. I fully expected 12th when we won. With 10th we might still have a shot at Fuaga. That's when Wright went last year. Fuaga is definitely in play, it could have been worse.
I think I'm coming around on the Bowers idea. I don't know how good he is as a blocker, but he could be a good middle ground between WR and OT if he's a good one. Having said that, we have a decent TE in Conklin. We do not have a decent WR2 and we have many holes on the OL. I'm torn.
Penix plays in the natty tomorrow. We need him to throw for like 350 and 4. Get him in the top 10 so another Qb goes top 10. Williams Maye Daniels Penix 4/10 slots MHJR and Nabers is 2 more. That’s 6/10 Alt and foshanu is 8/10 Hopefully Turner or Verse get into the top 10 and we can land Fuaga at 10.
And/or JJ McCarthy. Seems like the league is higher on him than most of us. I could see him becoming a top 10 pick if he lights it up tomorrow night and tests well at the combine.
Real good chance at least 4 QB's go ahead of us possibly 5 with McCarthy, plus MHJ. They're all but guaranteed one of the top 3 OT on their board. Or they could go Nabers, Bowers, Odunze. This looks like a great draft to be picking 10th.
As of right now, seems like our most likely options at 10 will be Fuaga, Odunze, or Bowers but there’s still a lot the draft process left. I’d honestly be thrilled with any of those 3 depending on how the rest of the offseason goes. Any of them are plug and play guys for us.
With the 6th pick the Jets select Joe Alt, tackle... oh wait, I forgot, this organisation cannot tank - let me try that again - with the 10th pick the Jets a defensive tackle/end
I think a lot of us are sleeping on Bowers. I would be thrilled if he was there for us at 10. Also, from what I’ve read, he’s a capable blocker, def not elite but he won’t be a liability in that regard either. Throw in the fact that he’s 6’4”, 240, and will run a 4.5, it’s easy to see the upside with him.
I think our most realistic targets for 10 right now are Brock Bowers (TE), Rome Odunze (WR), or Taliese Fuaga (OT, specifically RT tho).
