As long as he doesn't shit the bed, he will be here next year. He's under contract. The question is whether or not they pick up his option in May. That would commit to him for the next two years. If he plays well for the remaining games of the season, I could see them picking up that option which to me would be a mistake.

The more likely scenario is that he is the back up next year as a lame duck. Then they will deal with him after next season at which point if he wants to walk he walks and if they don't want him to, they can negotiate a new contract or franchise him (same position Danny dimes was in this year with the Giants).

You want the 35 year old QB that only played well with an elite running game backing up your 41 year old QB behind a horrible o-line. Then after we get bounced from the playoffs or go 9-8 we start all over. For everyone that thinks we would be undefeated with AR the Packers will most likely end up with same record with Love that they did with Rodgers and it is not like Love has been lighting it up.

Here is a preview of Rodgers behind the best version of this o-line

Who do you want as your backup QB? Joe Montana? Your response makes it seem like there is going to be a plethora of options to get a backup. There are going to be a handful of guys. Majority of those guys are going to want to go to places that they can actually play, not backup Rodgers.

Zach plays "well" the rest of the season when there is no pressure. AR goes down with an ankle for 4-6 weeks next year and Zach gets all the pressure in the world back on him to not sink the season. You trusting him? I'm not and neither is Saleh.

I also agree that the most likely situation that plays out is that Zach gets traded during the offseason.

Obviously this is a hypothetical that most likely won't happen but what happens if Zach plays like he did against the Texans for these final 4 games? I would think Saleh and JD would like to keep him for 1 more year to see if these 5 games were a flash in the pan or if he's finally turned the corner.

Either way, best case scenario for everyone involved is for Zach to keep balling out down the stretch. Either he sticks around for another year as a capable back-up or he increases his trade value this offseason.

You have a better chance of winning the lottery than the Jets throwing $25 million at Zach for his 5YO.

In reality, yes. This is the Jets. If he plays like he did last week for the final four games, I wouldn't make that bet.

I think regardless of how he plays down the stretch, the Jets won't pick up his 5th year option. I'm pretty sure the 5th year option for QBs last year was in the neighborhood of 23-24M and that has only gone up. So you're looking at paying ZW probably 25M+ guaranteed for '25? Idc how he looks down the stretch, there's 0% chance I would even consider doing that.

Maybe you try to sign him to a team-friendly 1-2 year extension if he continues to look good but that's about as far as I'd be willing to go with him.

Absolutely agree, and it can only boost his trade value if he plays well. But this organization hasn't shown that it can be smart about ANYTHING, and this kid holds some magical spell over them.

I think this is what the Packers did with Love instead of keeping him on the 5YO? I could be mistaken.

I am trusting him over a Jag like Tannehill but that all depends on the next four games. If Zach plays well I am doubling down on Zach if not I cut him.

The narrative that Zach sunk this season is false in IMHO. He had two bad games IMHO Pats and the Bills and that is when the o-line was at its worst. The O-line sunk the season. I do not see anyone jumping on Breece

lol Zach cant even hold RT's jockstrap. I know you are a big Zach fan, but you are lying if you are taking Zach over RT. If I need a QB to hold down the fort for 3 or 4 games I sure as hell am not taking Zach Wilson over Ryan Tannenhill.

Gotta love it. This whole board was talking about how Tannehill is going to win a MVP just to say how bad Gase was several years ago. Now he’s a jag.

He is a jag for the most part now though but he’d prob be a decent backup next year.

I don’t see them bringing Wilson back because I also don’t see him repeating that game - especially with 2 of the games being @ freezing cold Cleveland with an elite defense and @ freezing cold New England with a good defense and maybe Belichick’s last game.

So the Giants and Raiders (where he was actually benched) weren't bad games? And the only time he had bad games were because of the line?

Wow. Can you teach me that skill so I can stop fighting with my wife?

Go look at the Giants film he played well and ended well in a down pour. (ask Dan Orlovsky). The Raiders he made that critical pick but played decent that game.

And you know for sure BB is going to throw the kitchen sink at him to win that game in embarrassing fashion. Last game vs Zach he didn't even do anything special on defense, he just played straight for the most part and made Zach read the defense and make throws. Guys were running wide open all game and he couldn't do it.

The most frustrating loss of the season... it was all right there and he absolutely crumbled...

Your AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 14, Zach Wilson.
    https://www.newyorkjets.com/news/jets-zach-wilson-afc-offensive-player-of-the-week-14-2023

Good for him, seriously. To rebound for a really good game after all that transpired against a good team in awful weather with garbage OL play is really impressive. I'm not saying anything about next week, the rest of the season, or the rest of his career trajectory. But reality is last week was a very good one for him. Let's see what happens next week
