    Jets: DAYMEION HUGHES

In my opinion Daymeion Hughes is one of the most overrated prospects in this draft and I feel that people's lofty opinion of him are based largely on the abnormal number of interceptions he racked up as a senior. By the time Draft Day rolls around I fully expect Hughes to slip into the 2nd or 3rd round because he doesn't figure to run all that well in workouts but for at least the time being I will give him the benefit of the doubt by respecting his current draft stock level and placing him in round one. To say that the Jets made major strides in '06 would be a vast understatement but the rebuilding job is not finished by any means and one area that still needs a lot of attention is cornerback, where Andre Dyson is solid but Justin Miller is on the outs and there is little or no depth to speak of. Hughes is a physical ballhawk who would be a perfect fit for Eric Mangini's scheme and help upgrade what was a middle of pack pass defense this past season.

I was looking at that this morning. Why choose somebody you think is overrated in your own mock is beyond me. No way we pass on a pass rush specialist...assuming we haven't traded from that spot already.

He's certainly has the looks of a physical freak, i remember last year that i called jimmy williams would fall because he wouldn't run well. This is the same situation.

At that point of the Draft why wouldnt we take Blalock, Woodley, Carriker or Jarvis Moss?Even if we were to sign Adalius Thomas? I usually agree w/ nfldraftcountdown but not this time. My pick would have been Jarvis Moss. A OLB pass rushing stud that we need

I'll pass... I don't want a CB in the 1st round, but free agency.

Usually, I like Scott's mocks. I just don't think the Jets will draft a CB in the 1st round. The Pats did a great job salvaging CB from later rounds, Gay was an undrafted FA and the guy was starting for them!

I think the likely Jets pick in this scenario would be Blalock or Moss. I think Blalock would be an outstanding pick personally.

Terrible projection by Wright. "I think he'll be a 2nd or 3rd," but the Jets will take him here makes no sense. This is why pre-workout/Senior Bowl mocks are ridiculous. You can do them to get a sense for a player's stock, but posting them is rather pointless.

I also think the Jets would STRONGLY consider trading down if that situation played out- if they could pick up a 2nd rounder + change that'd be great.

I would have wanted Marcus McCauley. Stupid Seahawks had to blow that game vs. Bears

I was a bit shocked at Wright's mock. He is a reliable source but there is NO WAY we would pass up on Woodley or Moss if they are there. We need pass rushing and those two would definitely provide it.

Wright's drafts usually go by need. Some reason he thinks our CB's are really weak compared to other needs. I just cant agree with him here. Maybe if we get a CB in FA his tune will change. 3 years ago he would do Mock drafts based on best avialable players now it seems for every team he does team needs. Plus if he is correct at this time of year....(still 3 months away)

Mccauley would be a great pick in the 2nd round. But not the first.

With Jarvis Moss or Blalock on the board still, I would rather see them taken than a CB we can pull out of FA.

He's trying to make the accurate picks, not the picks that he would make. Yea, I'd personally rather have Blalock in a heartbeat, but who knows what a team really needs before FA?

I also think it's very interesting that Colt Brennan is in the first round... haven't heard much of that before and I'm shocked. But, with all of the other QBs and their major flaws, it may not be out of the realm of possibility.

It's definitely a bit of a strange one, but we're still a good 6 weeks away from anything resembling an accurate mock. Minimum.
