it gets worse. been a shit year for QBs in the NFL. steelers looking to sign a QB too right now after pickett went down. still I think rypien is an upgrade over boyle lol
How this coaching staff thought Boyle deserved a roster spot is just another red flag on their player evaluation on the offensive side. Brutal
Don't even bother teaching him the "offensive system" Just put him out there to not score TDs and get sacked like everyone else
Zach needs to be cut as well. He has no future here and if we’re in tank mode, I see no reason not to.
Somehow Rypien, who has bounced around the league, on and off practice squads will certainly be an upgrade over Boyle and Seimian and likely over Zach too. Can he digest a playbook as fast as Dobbs?
for those interested in what he was coming into the league https://mattwaldmanrsp.com/2019/02/...film-room-no-146-qb-brett-rypien-boise-state/ https://mattwaldmanrsp.com/2019/04/03/mark-schofields-rsp-scouting-lens-the-case-for-rypien/
didnt they cut the wrong guy? how is Z still here. the kid doesnt want to get injured. the gall! fact that boyle was our literal backup for an entire season is insanity - perhaps least accomplished player to ever make NFL. he was outright bad in college. whole thing bizarre.
Maybe next time we sign someone we can see if someone out there has more NFL touchdowns than interceptions. If he ever gets activated that’ll give us three NFL QB’s with a negative TD:INT ratio that have been activated. That has to be close to a record.
Going to be all about the cap with him. Last resort only. If they cut him, they get crushed. If they can trade him for a sack of potatoes in the off-season, they won't be hit as hard.
from what I heard he's really good in the film room/QB room. plus he knows hacketts system. usually a QB3 on a roster is more of a "player coach" then someone you expect to play and make the league minimum. if it comes down to playing them teams will usually opt to get someone from off the roster. we'll likely bring him back on the PS
cap room. were better off trading him in the offseason. some team will think "we can fix him" and give us a decent pick for him and we'll save 5mil in cap room. cutting him now cost us that cap room and he does still have value
we can't until the offseason. trade deadline has passed. the CS really mismanaged this whole situation and now they have 2 options. either play him or make him an inactive for the rest of the season.
