Let me preface this by saying that I am a pure darksider, I have no confidence in this team whatsoever, and the only thing I'm superstitious about in my life is the Jets and the fact that they are cursed in some way. But my superstition about them works both ways. A fair number of the times the Jets have made the playoffs over the years, it's been because they either straight backed in, or somehow got as much help as they possibly could despite how many times they tried to take themselves out of the race. The Bengals losing, the Bills losing, this somehow leaves the Jets completely alive if they could somehow beat Buffalo this weekend. I know of course they hardly ever win in these situations, but thinking back to 2009 in particular and a couple of other times where they got into the postseason, a lot of the season looked like it looked now. No hope, just kicking all their opportunities away, and things came together because teams continued to lose to help them out. Just food for thought as I sit and watch the end of the Ravens blowout of the Bengals.
If the front office/coaching staff decided to care about winning, we'd have a shot. But they don't care about winning, so what can I say.
It wasn't quite this bad, but it was pretty close throughout a lot of 2009. Definitely more high scoring games, but the bad ones were very bad.
I think we are much closer to 9 wins getting that seventh seed then we've been all year. The Bills and Bengals, two of the more consistent teams (or at least thought to be), at 5–5 is huge. Still unlikely, but at least that possibility now exists.
It’s hard to imagine this team making the playoffs when they couldnt do it last season with a……(can’t believing I’m typing this) better offense.
The same as it was if we lost to Buffalo and beat Miami. Get to 6-6 after Atlanta. Doesn't really matter how it happens. The biggest game of the year is probably going to be that Thursday night game in Cleveland. Can easily see that as an elimination game for both teams. Rooting guide is pretty easy this week: Jets over Buffalo Raiders over Miami Ravens over Bengals Cardinals over Texans Ravens over Bengals Packers over Chargers
The Jets are not playing for a playoff spot. The #1 intent of the Jets right now is to develop Zach Wilson. If we accidentally stumble into a playoff spot thanks to our Defense then great, but nothing the FO or coaching staff has done since the second Rodgers went down indicates that they care about anything but getting Zach reps.
Just let it go man. You'll feel a helluva lot better. Id' rather they lose every game from here on out. With Zach at the helm this team is hot Horse Dung. Want no part of taking some ride for the next 2 months that ends in more bitter despair. That movie is so old in Jets land. Is it 2025 yet so we can start looking for a new QB and OC?
yup, or the Rex years. 8 games to go, can only afford 2 more losses at most for a shot. My prediction, we beat the bills with the competence on offense, and then revert right back to a pumpkin on Friday, and we all get kicked off that familiar jets cliff.
This is the perfect "Same Ole' Jets" scenario! Playing a declining power in the division, multiple teams shitting the bed, the stars align and IF the Jets win they secure a playoff spot! EVERYTHING about this scenario SCREAMS the Jets have got to win! Break out the stickum, inflate/deflate the ball, practice the tuck rule...ANYTHING to win the game. Ending: The Jets roll out to big explosions with the big inflatable Jets helmet at the tunnel. They then proceed to get wiped off the playing field as if it were just another day.
