I've always wanted him to come to the Jets since the day he left San Francisco. He flipped that whole team around overnight. Won immediately, went to 3 straight championship games, turned Alex Smiths career around, wasn't scared to change QBs despite Alex Smith winning them games, brought an elite defense immediately as well. If I'm the Jets and Woody Johnson, and I'm serious about winning as he claims then he has to make the phone call. If Harbaugh says no, then so be it, we stick with Saleh, but if he says yes then you absolutey do it. Harbaurghs dealing with stuff in the NCAA right now. He might finally win the national title, which is what I believe has been holding him back from returning to the NFL. He would be walking into a situation with a very good defense, Aaron Rodgers (who he beat twice in the playoffs), and a team that needs a culture change. He probably would want control of the team, which is what became the issue in San Fran but it needs to be run better. If he was here he would have probably helped Wilson the way he did smith, and he also wouldn't be scared to to bench him either the way he did smith.
It’s not going to happen. The Rodgers injury gave JD and Co an open license to pivot from trying to win to trying to pray they don’t look foolish for drafting Zach. There’s no level of awfulness that is going to have the FO and coaching staff pivot from Zach. You are going to watch every second of Zach’s ineptness whether you like it or not if you want to continue watching Jets games this year. Then at the end of the season you’ll have guys like Gased and Confused support this nonsense trying to pick the one or two good things Zach might’ve done like picking flyshit out of the pepper shaker, telling you that every ounce of statistical and visual evidence you see is wrong and Zach is really pretty good. We’re going to start next year exactly as we have this year. Same staff, same players, same story. Rodgers will be 40, most likely hurt again, and then we’ll watch one more final last gasp of the FO trotting Zach out for the remainder of the season since it’ll be their last hope of keeping their jobs. When Zach fails miserably again and Rodgers retires THEN they will start over. This nightmare isn’t over this season brother, we’re only 1/4 way through it.
Besides our draft picks next season who do you think we’re adding? We pushed a bunch of cap hit into next season, we’re not making any moves of significance in FA. Our FO genuinely believes this is a SB contender just by simply adding Rodgers. They felt by losing Rodgers they lost the chance of winning a SB, so rather than signing a QB that can help us win games and have a playoff appearance at best, they decided to use this season as an excuse to develop Zach. Obviously Zach isn’t developIng, but he costs too much to cut next season so he’ll be the backup again. If Rodgers get injured again for a long time the FO’s only means of saving themselves is if Zach has a lightbulb go off in his head, so they’re going to fall on that sword.
Woody Johnson is not serious about a winning football culture. That's where this dies. Woody has shown that his ego is more important than doing what's best for the Jets to win football games. That is as clear as day for all to see. Also enough with this Harbaugh bs. The Jets would have to give him a John Gruden deal and even then he isn't coming here. And Woody would never give anyone that. He's too stupid and full of himself. Harbaugh has a national championship contending football team, has for the past few years and is a Michigan man through and through.
Yeah, the way the Jets are operating this year it feels they were given a free pass for next year. It's impossible to believe that they would put their jobs in the line for Zach Wilson, Aaron Rodgers and Hackett unless they were already given the security.
There is no quick fix, to what the Jets need, unless you're referring to Jim Harbaugh the QB, he was even better than Suck Wilson
Woody handed his GM a couple hundred million dollars to sign a guy to fix his mistakes. It’s easy to blame Woody, but it’s not for a lack of trying. Woody is just stupid and keeps hiring nitwits to run his franchise
Making stupid mistakes is willful ignorance so that counts as lack of trying. Woody needs to get out of his own way and let someone else make all the football decisions. Whether that's a proven GM or head of football operations he needs to make the right move. Woody is a complete failure especially with this latest run of 14 straight years with no playoffs including this season.
I don’t disagree, I just was pointing out that the idea of Woody being cheap or not wanting to win is completely false. I wish he’d sell the team because he’s useless at evaluating leadership and football intelligence and hires idiots at every turn. He’s a terrible owner, but he’s not cheap.
Then why spend 200m? He’s already making money hand over fist on this franchise? Look I don’t want to ever be in a position to defend Woody, I agree he’s terrible as an owner. I just don’t believe he’s cheap, all evidence says otherwise. He’s just stupid
I think the Commanders offer a much better football situation with their bevy of draft picks and new owner who builds playoff contending sports franchises (Devils, 76ers). Looks like they have a decent enough NFL QB, several good receivers and a full war chest of picks. Harbaugh could also likely go get a top 3 quarterback in next years draft and have another top 5 pick to go along with it if he went to the Bears. The Chargers also have a talented young roster and a franchise QB in place. That’s three situations better than being married to Aaron Rodgers off an Achilles injury with no offensive line for Harbaugh. Then you have the debatable ones like the Buccaneers and Raiders if those jobs open up.
I don't think he's cheap either, I just don't think the success of the team matters to him as much as he tries to make it sound. The whole thing feels like a never-ending social event for a lifetime introvert constantly trying to crawl out of his shell. I don't like the idea of the team I root for being used as a psychological coping tool for a rich-as-fuck old baby trying to play Grown Up. That's exactly what the whole thing feels like to me at this point.
I've always felt Harbaugh would be perfect for the Jets as well, he just seems like the perfect personality type to succeed here and he knows his QBs, which is so vital However, I thought Woody Johnson spoke with Harbaugh back in 2009 before he hired Rex. Is it possible that Harbaugh figured out then that he never wanted to work with Johnson, who is such a boob?
I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that Rodgers does retire at the end of the season, and that could set the franchise back far further than a top 5 rookie QB ever would. Consider the accelerated cap hit from his contract and also the abnormally large number of backloaded contract restructures they did to make room (admittedly in hindsight) for some stupid free agent moves. Aaron Rodgers owns the Jets right now.
This current coaching staff will return next year with everything on the line. Rodger’s injury gave them a pass. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
