Yeah he wasn’t very good when he played…unless he was playing hurt and is better now, I’m not sure I’d make that move to start Brown and move Becton
Is the guy who tweeted that our OL coach? If not he’s just speculating. Poorly at that if he thinks moving Becton to RT again is a good move. Leave big man where he is.
I'm guessing Saleh will see Duane Brown as one of the best five, but to my untrained eye, I'd rather have Becton (LT) and Mitchell (RT) out there than Brown (LT) and Becton (RT). Brown was noticeably atrocious But the gaping holes at C and RG will make this more complicated...
becton when asked about possibly being moved back to Rt responded "I Didn't play for two years, so really I don't give a damn where i'm at. I just want to play football" what an attitude turnaround for him. he seems like he's having a blast out there too when he's on the field
Brown was huffing and puffing about 2 drives into the first game. There was one point where the overhead camera caught a glimpse of him and was was wide eyed gasping for breath between plays. The game has passed him by, to the point that I feel it’s dangerous to him and his teammates for him to be out there.
An enduring image of the 2023 season for me is the photo of Aaron Rodgers on the turf grimacing in pain, with Duane Brown standing alone in the background, slightly out of focus, having allowed the sack.
No blaming the o-line for crappy play here. If it was Wilson, the sack would have been his fault. Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk
Seems like both Saleh and Brown admitted yesterday that he maybe came back too soon from his shoulder injury at the beginning of the year. If he's 100% healthy, I think he's gotta be out there. If that means moving Becton back to RT, so be it. Becton has been solid but not great at LT so far this year IMO. Just get the best 5 we have out there and let the chips fall where they may.
Yeah for as bad as Brown was, I don’t think it’s impossible to think he’s probably going to be much better this go-around. Becton has been ok but he still gets penalized too much and has allowed 5 sacks in 7 games. He’s way overrated here because he pancaked some guys badly as a rookie. He wasn’t a good pass protector then either. He’s really best served with the tightend playing to his side.
This gives me a sliver of hope though if he doesn't play better this time around, it'll be the third time his not being fully healthy is the excuse for poor play.. I hope they don't rush him back though. Not that Becton or Mitchell have been fantastic, but they haven't been atrocious and they could be the future at their positions so getting more playing time could be beneficial in the long run. But the bigger question is who is playing at C and RG this week? Newman and Turner? I'm assuming Tippman is still out, but haven't heard much
is Duane Brown better than any available FA lineman not on a roster at this point of the season? Absolutely. Are we desperate for linemen? Absolutely. It's a no-brainer. get him the fuck in there. Can he snap a football?
It is gonna be awhile right? This just opens the 3 week window where Brown can practice and not take up a roster spot. We might not see Brown out there on gameday until the end of this window, @Buffalo in 3 weeks.
