Not to mention the fact that Cook's yards per carry had declined each of the past 2 years (3 if you count this year) and he's at the age where most RBs turn into a pumpkin. Just a truly braindead signing.
Points well taken, but ya know, the flip-side of that is that often enough guys come here and somehow the blame-shifting begins that the Jets are somehow the cause of their declining career. A classic example was Tim Tebow. The press were writing these fawning articles en masse how this man of God got shit-piled and had his career ruined by the lying ass New York Jets, they ruined him, I tell ya, ruined him. It was a terrible idea in the first place, but maybe he just sucked . . . ? That and the fact that Tim Tebow will never be hurting for money, thanks. It was nauseating and pathetic at the same time. If a player doesn't want to play here because blah blah blah, well, buh-bye, there are plenty of guys who are hungry and would give anything for a chance at a roster spot, let alone being on the PS. Go cry somewhere else.
it's a clickbait headline thats been making the rounds. nobody seemed to watch the interview. dalvin isn't frustrated or complaining at all in it. his comment was only when he was asked why his YPC were down and he explained that it's because his volume is lower
The running game is designed for speed. The only way I see him being successful with the Jets is if Hack designed a few plays that suit how he runs, can't expect him to execute plays meant for Hall.
I read the article and he says he is frustrated multiple times in the article. Therefore maybe I'm wrong and he's not frustrated. This whole situation with him is very frustrating.
the article is poorly written. I'd watch the actual interview with him and take what you will from it. From my opinion he wasn't complaining at all this is the video of the actual interview for those that want to watch it https://www.newyorkjets.com/video/dalvin-cook-media-availability-10-26-23
Yes, doesn't seem too frustrated here, a bit blown out of proportion. I hope he gets it going this week, we will see.
the problem was clickbait headlines and poorly written articles. I have no issue with cooks answers even though the reporter was trying to bait him into complaining. from cooks perspective he's on a team with a playoff shot and making decent money and in the NFL things change fast and injuries pile up.
It's a well written article including the background, direct quotes from Cook and quotes from Saleh, both expressing their views from earlier in the season and the present. The headline is taken directly from quotes by Cook during the interview. When a player states three times in less than thirty seconds that he is frustrated or his situation is frustrating, I would tend to believe him, especially in light of how he handled all the questions in the seven minutes of interview I saw. "Clickbait" is just a cheap complaint for content some people don't want to consider.
I didn't read the article, however, most running backs I've read about say they need to get into a rhythm in a game and that usually means getting about 15-20 touches. Cook is averaging a little more than 6 per game. It has to be remembered that Hall is coming off an injury and no one knew how good he'd be. Hindsight is 20/20. I didn't like the signing either given we were pretty well stacked at RB. I suspect this signing had Rodgers fingerprints all over it. Nevertheless, I predict Cook will break one for a long TD at some point this year, I just hope he's still a Jet when he does it. Late edit: I did read the article.
Agreed. The guy is clearly frustrated based on the interview. He was trying to be professional, but objectively I am not sure how you listen to these 7 minutes with open mind and come out thinking otherwise.
There is a reason the Vikings let him go and Mattison is NOT a featured back, he's a change of pace back. That said the Jets really didn't know what the timing was for Breece to come back to full health so I get the signing by them, at the time is was a good move and not too costly. With Breece healthy Cook will not be getting significant carries going forward, If Izzy is fully healthy I'd look to move Cook, he served his purpose and that purpose is no longer needed.
A couple of TDs or at least a couple of impressive runs should cure his frustration and provide him with more touches.
Well Dalvin, thank you for all of those highlights you brought to the team! Joe D masterpiece https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/football/news/dalvin-cook-parting-ways-with-new-york/
$5,800,000 guaranteed for 82 touches, which is over $70K per touch. Just another brilliant move by Joe Douglas.
