it's interesting for sure but it's hard to say anything is "wrong"in the moment.
we all clown the famous seahawks throwing on 1st and goal from the 1 in the SB but even bellichick said it was the right call. he just predicted caroll would make the right call and russ threw a shitty pass and it worked out for NE.
for philly the mindset is we have a pro bowl QB, 2 #1 WRs going against backup CBs and we need 9 yards to seal the game and win it now. hard to fault that if you look at it form that angle.
the devils advocate is, the jets aren't moving the ball well, we have a great D. just run some clock, punt it, and let your D win it.

The jets in turn had the same situation. we could jump down at the 1 and try to drain clock but no guarantee we punch it in, don't fumble, or shank a FG. it's the NFL shit happens, or you take the guaranteed points and trust your D to prevent a TD, the same D who shut them out in the 2nd half.

I really don't see any of the choices being inherently "wrong" a good example (that still stings) is the steelers/jets playoff game. the stellers had 3rd and 4 or 5 IIRC. could have ran and punted and trusted the D to not let up a score, but instead play action and picked up the 1st sealing the game and not giving us a chance on offense.

Yeah, you score the TD in this situation. It’s a no-brainer.

I'll take the Hall touchdown. No guarantees there isn't a fluke fumble, or missed FG, or blocked FG. I would rather bet on the defense holding them from getting a TD. The Jets have given up only 1TD in the second half this season. Now, if they can only get that same results in the first half of games, they will be elite & definitely playoff bound.

Play 4 can't take 40 seconds. After play three, the 40 seconds they run off the clock gets them to roughly 50-60 seconds. Once they kick the field goal, it takes 5 seconds off the clock. You can't run down the clock beyond that.

So the Eagles would have had the ball with about 50 seconds or so left needing somewhere around 40 yards to kick a field goal to win the game.

And one could argue that a run into the line doesn't take 7 seconds, more likely 4-5 if even that. So 1:50 - 5 - 5 - 40 equals 1:00. FG takes 5 seconds.

55 seconds left for the kickoff.

I love how the Jets scored the touchdown and won the game but its the Jets decision making being questioned.

Not the team that let them score... and lost

Actually, I want to add something to this. Everybody's talking about how there was a minute and whatever left and then the three plays would start. No! Hall's carry into the end zone ended with 1:50 left on the clock. That means if the Jets would have knelt down, they probably would have had about 1:52 or 1:53, Eagles call time out, and then we're on second down.

If the Jets do something stupid like kneel to try and kill clock and absorb time outs, they likely give the Eagles the ball back with a minute or better left.

The Jets are lucky to even be in the discussion. They just kind of accidented their way into the situation by being on the Eagles schedule. We're lucky Tay Tay wasn't there with her pretend boyfriend.

Also the Eagles being on the west coast the week before with Miami looming hence the “trap game”. A lot of injuries also for both sides so that evened out ….

Anyway if the Jets won yesterday by “accident” so be it - it’s the NFL and the Jets have lost 3 or 4 games over the years to the Eagles by “accidents” so it all evens out lol…

Well said I think the commentators were wrong to suggest the Jets were flawed here. I agree with your assessment that the Eagles were wrong. Besides a similar situation happened with the Pats and Seattle in the Super Bowl sort of. Make the offense score makes sense in both scenarios.
