Hardman the mysterious weekly healthy scratch du Jour for the Jets. Maybe they can pick up a half decent Offensive Tackle. Jeremy Fowler: The Jets are looking at potential options for Mecole Hardman including a trade according to league sources. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...s-looking-at-trade-options-for-mecole-hardman
Meh - the question is why? He's not playing much now but WRs get hurt a lot and we already lost Davis. Garrett and Hardman are the only two that can take the top off the defense. If our returner goes down who does returns - Cobb? Is this worth a low round pick? The only reason I can think of is JD is trying to get cap space to sign a more expensive player?
Makes sense. If you think Gipson has already taken his spot, why not see if you can get something for him. He's clearly not going to play, and he's a FA at the end of the year. Opens up some money (I think), and you basically buy a draft pick. I expect them to try to do the same with Lawson and Cook. Even if you get pennies on the dollar, its pennies you didnt have, for guys you aren't playing.
They may try but I don't see any team trading for Cook at this point.....looks like toast. Even if he were outright released I don't see many teams having real interest....maybe the Browns if still on the fringe of WC chase by 10/31?
The Jets were never going to be major players this past offseason with the exception of QB. I would say signing Q to his extension trumps everything else. And Quincy for that matter.
Hardman isn't playing because of the emergence of Gipson. JD was supposed to foresee that and Aaron Rodgers getting injured on the fourth snap of the season?
If they can get even a 4th round pick for him its a win. Maybe even a 5th. It would be the equivalent of buying the pick for about 4 million.
Who was going to give up a fourth round pick for a wide receiver that has one catch on the year? And on a bad team to boot?
Van Jefferson just got traded for a swap of six and seventh round picks in 2025. He has eight catches on the year. Does anyone think that hardman is going to bring more such as a fourth or 5th round draft choice or a half decent tackle?
Again, this move seems to be more about freeing up money rather than getting a low round pick. If so the question is why and money for who?
1 mil. it's prorated. trading team takes the other 3 mil on. would be worth it for a 7th for cap space alone
Ya you're right--that would be 1 million for a 7th which seems ok. I'm thinking we pick up the whole contract so all they got to do is part with the pick.
It is stupid, stupid. I wish Hardman well on his next stop. Maybe Randall Cobb will catch something this week
most teams won't care. it's only 3 mil. not sure who'd want him? GB or Chi maybe? the giants? there are some bad WR groups out there
I'd think it'd be a competitive team that can use his speed. Bills may be interested--he can also serve as backup return man to Harty. Chargers maybe--Tampa's got a 6th rounder in the slot right now.
