When Eisen got to the point where he justifies why the Vikings would consider trading Cousins to us, it should become clear to everyone that it makes even more sense for the Jets to sit pat with Zach and try and "earn" the highest draft pick they can rather than overpay for a career mediocre QB like Cousins.
Cousins' contract is up after the year. He already got his signing bonus, you'd only be on the hook for a piece (13 games and counting lower) of his $10M salary it is not financially devastating and it would be a ballsy move signifying they want to actually win in 2023. --- It would hurt feelings and Cousins likely doesn't want to come here so rest easy it wont happen
I don’t see why Kirk would want to do it either. He’s a big family guy and he’s going to probably have to move his family in the off-season anyways. Doubt he’d want to deal with that twice. He’d also have to come here and not play a bunch of games in a dome while trying to dig a team out of nearly the same hole he is in Minnesota in probably a better division.
I believe the only concern with Cousins are all his void years. If the Vikings were to eat them, you probably have to give up more to let them keep the money.
They'd be stuck with 30 million dead cap - which would equal about two additional 2nds in a trade, in addition to the player value, which is probably a 1st or 2nd. So multiple high picks for a 1 year rental on Cousins, because he wouldn't agree to be traded to backup Rodgers next season.
