Not to defend Zach here, but why do you even have a guy running a two yard flat route on fourth and ten? Why not just keep him in to block?
It is hard to pick. I went with the pass on 4th down because it just so boneheaded it is hard to believe. But sacking himself would win 9 times out of 10
I actually thought the safety should have been the play. You all think we were going down the field on that drive
I would vote for a different play. It was a play that made me give up any hope I had left for Zach. 14:52 left in the second quarter. First-and-10 at the 38. A clean pocket for more than three full seconds but it begins to collapse then. After four seconds, having dropped back to the 29, Zach proceeds to turn his back to the defense and run STRAIGHT BACKWARDS for about six yards. The sack was mercifully called at the 26, saving three yards or so, but it was still a loss of 12 yards. He didn't throw the ball away when the pressure started to come. He turned his back and ran STRAIGHT BACKWARDS.
The 1 yard dump on 4th down was a loser move. The safety was all on the o-line, and really set up the play before when Tippmann got knocked down like a rag doll and McGovern had to hold just to prevent disaster. That backed us up to the 5 where Becton couldn't block a simple spin move.
the checkdown on 4th and 10 may go down as the dumbest play in football history, I have never seen this before.
