Very simply... they've been given lots of talent, yet especially on D, they start games flat. I know the usual suspects will blame Zach for the O, but Hackett didn't give him, or the OL any help. I'm not going to go into details, there's no point on this board. I gave credit to Saleh last week, for holding the team together under difficult circumstances. But they had a week to prepare for Dallas, & the team just wasn't prepared to play. And the penalties. The team looked the same as the last half of last season. It's a Saleh team, which means it's run by the players, which is fine if the CS gives them a plan to execute. But as past Saleh teams, there really was no plan, & the CS was badly outcoached by the Dallas CS. To me, it's like the players are out there, on-the-fly, trying to figure out what to do. It's just a poorly coached team, and the worst part of losing AR, to me, is his injury will buy Saleh another year, & waste this young talented team, before 2nd-contracts come due. Lastly, almost everyone ignored what happened last season, by blaming Zach for the collapse. I posted many times how the D had problems recovering fumbles, making 3rd-down stops, creating turnovers, etc. Their best trait was they were good in the redzone, & forced FGs, rather than giving up TDs. Today was the same ol' thing. Bottomline, this team will never be SB caliber as long as Saleh is HC. He's a great PR frontman for the team, & a good D coach, but as HC... smh. .
The Woody's just keep making stupid hire after stupid hire, so the Jets will never be a super bowl contender as long as the Woody's own this team.
I don't know who is surprised. This is mostly the same coaches and mostly the same players that finished the season looking very much the same last year. This is a mediocre football team with a few young stars that, unfortunately on offense we cannot make use of because they require a competent Oline to flourish. The defense is solid but hasn't yet shown it can carry this team. (no, the defense didn't carry the team on Monday night, Josh Allen and the special teams did).
One other thing about the CS... can we stop babying players? Yes, Breece was injured, but 4 carries? And for Zach, if your premise is to protect him from making mistakes, you may as well forfeit any game against a good D now. It's a guaranteed losing formula. If they do the same thing next week, we'll be seeing a replay of NE vs the Jets from last season. . Lastly, Saleh said after the game that MCII could've played, but they kept him out to protect him. If the object is to win, if a player is ok to play... play him... .
