I loved seeing him break those runs, but was just a little concerned that he got caught on the 83 yarder. Was his top end speed not back yet for him? Nope. Official NFL speed measurements say he was just gassed. Great sign for the future, and incredible comeback for him to do what we just saw in week 1. I'm really excited to watch the kid this season.
To bad with Zack Wilson as the Qb teams will now stack the box and his talents will be wasted, with Ar he may have broken 2000 yards, he would't have got caught on that run if Garrett Wilson was blocking instead of celebrating.
Don't necessarily disagree, but I'm really happy that his speed is back in full, week 1 of the season. That's crazy to me, and is certainly better than him coming back and being an obviously lesser player (which was a possibility on the table).
An average person that was relatively active would probably still be a little gimpy. It's really is very impressive, gassed or no. That will come back based on what we saw. The only reason I was super bummed he didn't get in other than the obvious is because now the Jets have to do it for him. The first thing I said was great, watch the Jets not get in. We all know how that turned out. Heh. Two things came to mind. Johnny Johnson taking it 90 yards from scrimmage and the Jets don't score, and Curtis Martin in his first year here when Fat Parcells gave him the ball 3 successive times at the goal line as a confidence builder and he didn't get in. I forgive the second one . . . but back to the first one because I like the smell of napalm in the morning. It was the longest run in Jets history as well as in the history of the NFL without scoring a TD. The Jets were stuffed on 4th down. Why are we always the proud owners of shit like this. As you were on this semi-glorious victory morning.
I was floored watching him last night. I wasn't expecting much of anything from him in his first game back. I knew he was good, but I somehow underestimated him. Dude is UNREAL
Breece lighting looked amazing and hope it continues we need him and Cook together now to take the pressure off whatever QB
Yeah, he looked pretty fast, but on that long run, I could see that he was getting gassed, and was slowing down.
Breece Hall owns 2 of the top 10 longest runs in Jets history. https://x.com/DWAZ73/status/1702143983361651166
The list is wrong. Freeman McNeil had a 69 yard run vs Buffalo in 1985 -longest run of his career I just happened to remember because I watched that game - made an impression on me. Also Bruce Harper ran for a 78 yard TD against Atlanta in the rain at Shea in 1983. I remember that for two reasons - he slipped and fell at the line of scrimmage but got back up and ran untouched to the end zone because he wasn’t touched and the Jets blew a 21-0 lead in that game. So Harper has the Jets record for longest TD run because the 78 yard run by Powell in 1996 was not a TD he was tackled at the one yard line in the Jets only victory that year in Phoenix….
The guy is sneaky fast. He looks like he is jogging as he is running past everyone. Makes defenders take poor angles.
