The Bengals save nearly 8 Million if they cut La'el Collins. He has worked back from injury but when he was injured they found his replacement so he could very well be cut. Would be nice to bring him in before week 1
"La'el Collins There's a chance that Jonah Williams might stay as the right tackle. If that happens, the Bengals might not need La'el Collins anymore. He used to play for the Dallas Cowboys, and he joined the Bengals in 2022. However, his first year with them was not great, and he got a score of 57.9 out of 100 from Pro Football Focus. That's not very good. With Orlando Brown Jr now on the team, the Bengals might think Collins is too expensive and not reliable enough to stay as a backup player." I thought this guy was good lol. Hopefully it's just a down year or regardless would make a nice swing tackle on the cheap. Wouldn't hate Jason Peters, 2 years older than Brown but again depth is clearly an issue and there isn't much out there to choose from.
And for me the "tie breaker" between drafting a stud CB and a stud LT is the bold. Sure the argument can be made that by forcing teams to throw away from him the stud CB still makes an impact, but not the same impact as a stud tackle. If Becton had already panned out, and the rest of the OL was solid, it would've been a no brainer to take Sauce, but given our particular situation I still think the right pick was Icky. And the world must be nearing the End Times with you, me, and Vilma agreeing on something!
If they’re not turning over every stone than they’re doing themselves a disservice. I still believe AVT goes to right tackle if Becton goes down or Brown.
It is not ideal for sure but all the good, durable tackles have been rostered by other teams. Joe Douglas put the Jets in this situation. The situation is that Collins would represent a potential upgrade from what we have
My feeling is that the longer we go without hearing about Tippman's injury, the better. They have had plenty of time for an MRI at this point, and if the results were major structural damage, we would know.
This debate today is hilarious. The funny thing is this: having a rookie at LT when you are a “win now team” is risky as fuck. He could very well be terrible.
Did Carter Warren get hurt? Also, I have watched the Browns some this year and Dawand Jones is a fuckin beast
Hmmm, ********* was a fucking idiot. He thought he was good at QB because he drafted *******. Talk about delusional. Hmmm, ******* was a fucking idiot. He thought he was good at QB because he drafted ******. Talk about delusional. History repeats itself. Again and again.
I wanted him when he started sliding - had a really good College career, but was a bit of a risk due to weight, a la Becton. Though it was Carter who was actually more injury prone in College. I was a bit bummed out that JD didn't trade up for him in the 4th, but figured he can evaluate OLine better and preferred Carter Warren to D Jones, in spite of the later having far and away superior College production. It was certainly unorthodox choice to rate Broderick below McD and a TE that went in the second round, and also not to jump a few spots to ensure Dawand when we missed Broderick and pick lesser College player in Warren. Let's see how it plays out.
Nothing with the way this team's FO handles injuries makes me feel better. I don't remember Ozzie Newsome being weird with injuries like that.
Well if Kenny Pickett, Desmond Ridder, Malik Willis, Will Levis or Hendrick Hooker turn out to be a Pat Mahomes or DeShaun Watson then Douglas was as bad as Mac. Mac passed on Watson and Mahomes because he had taken Hackenberg the year before. Hack never even played a regular season down in the NFL but Mac thought he was so good that he passed on at least one HOF QB and possibly two.
