I thought he showed improvement in his drop back footwork but I was on my 3rd glass of wine--I don't see a problem keeping him on PS as long as he continues to work and improve which I think he has done. I liked what I saw in Boyle. He seemed smooth--I think he's gotta good chance of being #2 to start the season.
Maybe I wasn't watching close enough, but he looked about the same to me. Still seemed to have a hard time finding somebody on the short/intermediate throws, but had the ability to make the big splash play. The bomb to Taylor was awesome. Less airmails though and far from a disastrous outing. Hopefully he can build on it. Boyle had more decisiveness and made some nice throws early on
that and weve clinched clinched before week 18 so he plays that whole game, thus bringing rodgers under that 65% threshold
Jets have the division clinched going into week 18. zach wilson starts week 18 at new england and beats the breaks off of them and sends BB off into retirement.
He had the one long pass that was nice but not much after that. No TD drives against the Browns backups who played a vanilla game plan. I don't see Wilson ever being the guy here NY. I know the Jets FO will give him every chance, but I think the long-term answer at QB isn't on the roster yet. Thankfully Rodgers buys the Jets at least 2 years but JD will eventually have to solve the long-term issue at QB.
Jesus, he had 6 drop backs and people think he played bad? He had 1 bad throw which looked like vintage Zach, not great footwork which led to him sailing the ball over the WR's head (looked like a potential DPI/holding on the CB which might've affected the play but it's the HoF game, who cares?), and he needs to stop with those stupid pocket pirouettes but other than that I thought he looked fine. He did seem more comfortable in the pocket and I saw him actually working through his progressions which is a positive. He finished 3/5 with 65 yds and a 104.2 passer rating. This is about how I expected him to look playing with and against a bunch of backups. Hopefully they give him a little more PT in the next couple of PS games. I'd like to get a larger sample size for him before we make any sweeping declarations on whether he's turned a corner or not.
He didn't show much, but pass interference should have been called on Browns at the goal line. Would likely have led to a jets win. Really,Ii don't think any of the jets QBs showed much. Greg Z. was the jets offense last night.
Well stated. Zach throws one long pass against the Browns scrubs and suddenly he has turned the corner. I hope he can develop into more the next two years. It's not like he hasn't had a chance.
I thought his footwork was better than where we last saw him vs Jax. It was nice to see him actually make reads and not just bail instantly if the first read wasn't there. Wish we could have saw more, but hoping we can get a half or so out of him next game.
Same. Really hope they give him the entire first half against the Panthers next weekend but I could see them sticking with this same game plan and just giving him the first quarter again and then giving him the entire half against Tampa the following week.
I saw him actually move his head and look in a few different directions before throwing. I’ll take that as a positive
What surprised me was his long completion was a touch pass, and it was nicely thrown. That's something new and improved. IMO he should have played the whole first half because we gotta know if he can be the #2 or not. And he could use the reps.
Same, but apparently 6/11 for 61 yards is great. And Streveler completed one fucking pass but hey...the footwork!
Boyle had some dropped passes, and clearly looked more comfortable in the offense. But this is the same offense he learned in GB, while Zach is still learning it.
I personally think that we've seen enough and Boyle could have used the reps more. He's not a decent #2 option--maybe Boyle is.
