How did he increase his guarantee by 15, when he had 110 mil guaranteed and now has 75? That's a reduction of 35 mil guaranteed. He did unthinkable to try to win here. Rodgers is all in, just incredible stuff from AR.

He wants to win. He wanted to come here and he took a pay cut. Where are the people that were against him?

My quarterback. I love his commitment to winning with the Jets.

Uh-oh. Jeto will come after you. Don't tell me I didn't warn you.

He was due 101 million by the Jets, but 47 million were in option bonuses, which were now moved around. He increased his guaranteed money if he only plays one season. If he retired after this season his dead cap would have been 59 million. Now it is at 66 million. The truth is he is giving us a discount for this season, and next season, if he plays.

    Kudos to Aaron Rodgers.
He’s bought in. He’s a Jet, and is showing he wants his last stand to be here, and health permitting, for 2-3 years.
He’s our guy now, and he’s putting his money where is mouth is. Welcome!

Hate to say it, but second kudos to Woody next. This deal for Rodgers would never have happened without owner buy in. Without guarantees of stability for 2-3 years, he’s not coming here. Also the GM whiffing that badly at the #2 overall at QB after tanking a season, wouldn’t have had the latitude to move on so quickly without owner buy in. That’s why Woody traveled to Rodgers, for those assurances, and it was the right move.

Third kudos to JD and Saleh. If they didn’t have last years great offseason, and didn’t create a good atmosphere to move forward successfully, there would be no Rodgers deal.
JD in particular willing to recognize a massive mistake made, and move on for the benefit of the team overt typical GM track record I respect. He’s growing from his 2019-2021 disastrous results. I’m buying in based on that growth and 2022-23 offseason improvement.

    Lastly kudos to Jets fans.
We have an exciting run brewing. Finally! Looking forward to this season for first time in quite awhile.

    Cheaper than Carr, I think.

I wanted Carr in part because he was a financially safer option and that he’d want to stick around here for a while. My bad on both counts.

I’m incredulous that a HOF QB took a pay cut to come here to win a SB. Amazing!

In his original deal with GB he was owed roughly 60 mil guaranteed this year and 50 mil next year. Ignore the intermediate deal where he was due 1 mil this season and 100+ next year, this was just to fit him under the CAP at the time of the trade with the intent to have a new deal.

So from 60 mil guaranteed cash this year and 50 next year he went to basically 37 and 38: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-york-jets/aaron-rodgers-3745/
This is absolutely astounding and may even be the first of its kind. Can you find me another deal where a guy literally gave up 35 mil of previously guaranteed money over just two years?

This is insane. AR wants to win a SB in NY and he is literally putting his money (35 mil) where his mouth is. Amazing, there is just no other way to say it. If anyone had any doubts about his motives now, these should have been emphatically erased by his actions.
