The Jets will wrap up their offseason program earlier than scheduled. Jets head coach Robert Saleh told reporters on Tuesday that the team has called off next week’s mandatory minicamp, so their program will come to an end after this week’s OTAs. Saleh said that the Jets being scheduled to open the preseason against the Browns in the Hall of Fame Game on August 3 factored into the decision. With the Hall of Fame Game, we’re reporting a week earlier than everybody else,” Saleh said, via SNY. “Guys need to get away. They’ve put in a really good offseason. . . . You need a week off and you gotta rev back up to get ready for the season.” With no mandatory minicamp on the docket, defensive tackle Quinnen Williams won’t have to make a call about reporting after missing all of the offseason program while trying to land a contract extension with the team. Work toward that pact will likely continue while the players are away and training camp will now be the next big milestone for Williams if no agreement is reached.
I would say this is a bad idea if Rodgers skipped OTA'S but he's been there the whole time. I still would have liked the the team to get in the extra work being it's a new system. I'll trust Saleh's decision.
Usually they report for camp 3 weeks prior to the first preseason game, which would make it around a July 12-13 start date. The players are essentially on their own for the next month. Lets cross our fingers on that
Ok changed it What an amazing idea by future HOF coach Robert Saleh to cancel mini camp for the players. They could spend the next month finishing their college degrees and getting in the best physical shape of their lives for training camp!
Can we reopen the Dalvin Cook thread? There is definitely a lot of smoke now and it's looking like they could have real interest. Not exactly Schefter but Stadium has been pretty reliable.
i refuse to believe this much hype over a RB who's been in the league 6 years and has 1500 touches so far and is always banged up. with that said he's still 27 and even though looks to be declining better then anything we got other then hall and hall is coming off a major injury
I'd rather gave a guy that punishes LBs and safeties in January. We don't want a RB room full of gazelles in the winter.
Cook can play. I’d do it. The window with Rodgers is only 2 years, let’s use him to bring in guys like Cook
Jets play in the HOF game. Don't really see an issue with this. There season is starting earlier than other teams.
you realize this is only because they start camp earlier than others right? and that this gap in time occurs for every NFL team on the planet? Since, forever?
Having watched a good amount of Cook the last couple of years I'd rather spend our money elsewhere. He isn't the player he once was.
whats your point? smart people try to see every side of a situation and are willing to change their mind when new evidence is provided. Cook looks good on paper, but the more I thought about it, the less I wanted him
