I can respect that. Admittedly I didn't think the trade was some great steal by any means but I was still super happy. I know Rodgers more than anybody else on TGG, so maybe my opinion is biased. I do think we gave up more than we should have, but since I root for my favorite sports team, as well as my local nfl team, there was no hard feelings to me either way. As other posters here have pointed out, how many wasted high picks have we had? I can settle with basically losing ONE first round pick, and Elijah bust Moore for a HOF QB ... as long as he plays 2+ seasons. Even if we don't win a SB, I think just enjoying wins, and enjoying the ride would be worth it. Rodgers is probably the 2nd most talented QB I've ever seen, behind Mahomes. I went to his first Packers start, and his last. I've seen every game, (besides when the Jets played at the same time) and can confidently say that last year was an anomaly. I can talk him up all I want, but we'll have to see it come to fruition in September. Sent from my SM-F926U using Tapatalk
Rodgers signed a three year contract extensions with the Packers and fulfilled only one of those years. Therefore, AR's new contract term would seem irrelevant to how long he plays for the Jets. No reason he would not agree to a three year deal (to assist ticket & merch sales), but getting all three seasons out of him is another matter all together. Also, the contract is irrelevant to the trade compensation, unless the Pack kick in a portion of the loot. Conflating contract terms, trade compensation and how long AR plays may be a tad unrealistic at this point. At this point, it's year to year; nothing more, nothing less.
Today was a great day. It took something like this to buy-in to the fact that things have changed here. They've fucking changed. Let's enjoy the ride we are about to go on. We deserve this.
I couldn't help but notice the times Rodgers mentioned/praised Nathaniel Hackett. I know many here set themselves on fire when he got hired as the OC. I really like where all this is trending
People Get Ready "People get ready, there's a train a comin' Don't need no baggage, you just get on board. All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin', Don't need no ticket, you just thank the lord". Curtis Mayfield Hear those diesels? That's Old #8 coming down the line!
Rodgers made a great first impression today as a Jet. He's always spoken highly about former teammates, and is very respected by his those former teammates as well. In other words, I never considered his overall character to be shit, even with the drama that has come with management over the past few years, which I was not a huge fan of and have stated that. He's a private guy who thinks differently. The fact that he's committed to OTA's and said multiple times that he wants to be around his new teammates and build relationships is what I wanted to hear. Be around the building and community spoke volumes to me. When he initially said that he wanted to just focus on the upcoming season I could respect that, yet a little later stated that he would play for the foreseeable future and used words like commitment really put a lot of Jets fans at ease, even if that's not the case down the line (fingers crossed). I'm just excited for the upcoming season like most.
Rodgers seems like someone who lets his actions do the talking instead of letting his talking do his actions. He's going to fit in well here.
Tough schedule. Games w/the AFC West, NFC EAST And the AFC EAST. Looking forward to finally beating the Patriots also locking up w/the Giants. Now that Rodgers is here any suggestions on where he should live in NJ? Any good restaurants you can recommend?
I'm past the compensation and I like the contract, now I'm excited to watch this dude throwing long balls to a wide open Garrett Wilson. And making offensive line adjustments. I forgot what those looked like with this team. You guys know the Jets are a lock for Hard Knocks now right?
He looks so happy and such nice vibes. He also has a message for all us again here on this SNY segment near the end. LOVE IT
How is it that both Woody and his brother remind me of Kip from Napoleon Dynamite when they speak? Woody was totally intimidated by Rodgers, it was great. I want more of that.
Rodgers pointing out that Woody was suppose to shake his hand was a great power move. Woody's reaction was even better. What a simp.
As I drive home from another round of unnecessary spending at Costco Sal Lacotta, who at minimum plays a miserable person on the radio, said it best that if your brain goes negative about the picks we gave up for Rodgers or anything you are just choosing to be miserable. Jets made one of the biggest moves they will make in our lifetime... Enjoy it
This is the guy that sits at the owner's meetings to represent the Jets, I wonder if they make him sit by himself at a small table with small chairs.
I remember when the Mets traded for Gary Carter thinking a World Series is coming soon. Dare I say that I have that same feeling for the Jets now.
I remember when the Rams traded for Stafford, Bucks signed Brady, and Denver traded for Manning. We just have to wait and see, no one knows which way it will go. But there is no doubt we are a much better football team with Rodgers that without. SB betting odds reflect that as well, we have the 6th ones in NFL.
